Help! Where can I get a blind cut??? — Brooklynian

Help! Where can I get a blind cut???

So I got this very expensive blind on line, moved to another place and now the stupid blind is too big...agrrrr...I tried to get it cut at Home Depot and other "big" places but no luck: the problem is not the cell, but the aluminium, their machines will not cut it.
Any ideas pleeeease??? thx in advance...

  • let me see if I am understanding.

    Cellular shade.
The cell part is ok, but the top and bottom aluminum bars are too wide, buy probably something like a 1/2 inch.

So, if you remove the decorative end caps, cut one end of each of the bars, and then put the little decorative end caps back on ....it would fit?

Such a job could be done with a dremel with a "cut-off wheel", or even a jig saw with a bi-metal blade.

PM me if you think this would work.
  • Try Pintchik Hardware on Bergen in Park Slope.
  • Thanks whynot...but the problem is that even if I remove the metal decorative parts on the sides, and get the cell cut, there is still this top and bottom thick metal bar that goes from side to side that I cannot cut and for some reason nobody can/want to cut..agrrrrr.... :x

BKChikie, I will try that place. Fingers crossed!
    Thanks, guys! :D
  • <<< has all sorts of tools to cut metals, but not a tool to cut a celluar shade.
  • If I finally don´t get it at least I can give it to my dog...he already tried to eat it twice! :D
  • You might try wandering around the neighborhood looking for a plumber laying NoHub drain or one of the many metal shops along 3rd Av. They'll have a chop saw with a 10" cutting wheel as opposed to a blade. Cutting wheel has no teeth and will cut through everything smoothly, like butter without any ragged edges.
  • thx a lot for the info, modsquad, very helpful!!! :)
  • Grinder will also work
  • Great, good 2 know! thx!!
