West Indian-American Day Parade

I can't help but think that someone would be laughed off of the board if they moved next to... let's say the Franklin Ave shuttle, and then complained about the noise. Here, we have a similar situation, except it's a few consecutive nights of the year as opposed to a every 10 minutes. Strangely, that lack of frequency seems to have driven the entitlement factor up a few orders of magnitude. It's a part of the neighborhood, like it or not. Based upon the yearly attendance figures, I'd say that, if you don't like, it would be best for the neighborhood and for yourselves if you factor in this inconvenience the next time your lease comes up for renewal or you think about buying a new place.

I just hope that all PH residents who live on EP aren't assumed to be part of any fledgling effort to voice
their concerns, be at community meetings, petition campaigns, and at the ballot box.
I, too, would view such an effort as being very out of touch with the neighborhood, and an over reaction to the once a year events. I would perceive it as being an effort by a few people to curtail what is a long standing, annual event for over a million people.
Note: I'm not worried about any such effort being successful; I actually think it has little to no chance of changing the nature of the parade weekend. I'm just worried that people will try to speak on behalf of me, and -as a result- people who don't know me assume that I take such a position based on where I live.
Readers know that it is very important to me that people always view me in a positive light, and I that I always make sure I never stray from the majority. I am a fragile pack animal (sarcasm). -

While the department of sanitation has done okay in helping our neighborhood to get back to normal, there is a need for the parks department to step in.
EP is definitely not better than before the parade. The grass has been totally trampled off of median in many spots all along the parkway. I suspect this is because of the lack of rain this summer and spring. If this is not fixed, we will have nothing but mud and dirt along EP. -
And the sanitation workers missed the hundreds of chicken bones now littering Eastern Parkway. Makes walking my bone-mad dog even more maddening than usual.

We will have nothing but mud and dirt in less than two months anyway. The weeds and crab grass will grow back in the spring. -
Subject: Sanity
Earplugs, people. Earplugs. And a white noise machine. Indispensable for a good nights sleep in this neighborhood on any weekend.
Also, chill out. Most of us just got here, relatively speaking. When in Rome...
Howdy, Stranger!
