Low Key Gym, not too $$?

Check Harbor Fitness on 5th/15th. I think I pay the same

i think the fact that the Y is $52 a month is disgusting. i've heard they have great facilities, but it's the Y, it's supposed to be affordable.

Body Reserve on 5th and Union is a solid gym, and much cheaper over 1-yr than the Y.

Harbor has gone up. I was a member 3 years ago and paid 50, but It must be 60 or 70+ now. I could be wrong, but that's what I recall a friend who recently joined saying.
I joined NYSC last month and got in on a charter membership because a new gym opened just down the street from my office, but that's 69 a month though I can use ANY NYCS, ANY time. Normally it's 89/mo. Gyms are EXPENSIVE. Bottom line! -

Even the cheapest gym is going to be more expensive if you go monthly. Another way for them to squeeze more moola outta ya. -

True dat. But I will say I hate gyms, but have been fine going to Harbor. There is a nice, neighborhood feel to the place, plus good equipment and friendly trainers.

I hate Harbor. Went there 2 years ago. My foot went through some rotten flooring. Don't know if they repaired it yet. The staff was rude, and the manager did nothing to compensate me.
Cheap rate gyms are cheap for a reason. Whatever your tolerance level is, mostly depends on how cheap you are. The highest rated, but also best is the Slope Health & Fitness. You are pampered there. Then there is PSSC, now Crunch, lower service and corporate. Body Reserve on 5th & Union is a bodybuilders gym.
Hope this helps. -
Love Harbor. It has a very local feel. Great classes too.

I really like NYSC, it's clean, non-meat headed, they have great classes, I *believe* but could be wrong, that it is less expensive than Slope Fitness, also a lower sign on fee.
I pay 69/month and can use ANY of them in the city. Which is nice cause there is one 3 blocks from my office that is brand spankin new. My sign on fee was $39 bucks. -

Yes, 20% off that at the Y, ask them what organizations they give the dicount to but I get it for being in AARP and used to get a Citibank employee discount when I was only a consultant there but had an ID card. Teacher union too. We pay like 68$ for a family membership.
