This is funny

So, remember the last time I talked about making friends (http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=55917&highlight=) and the next thing you know somene's set a date and place for a happy hour? That was over 6 months ago (I know there was one since then, but I couldn't go) so how about another, no? Just wondering!

Comments

  • the last "all board event" was a going away party for lnelson, who still posts. (?!)

(clearly a violation of the implicit contract)

Anyway, under the guise of us of missing her, over 20 people came out.

You may have to pull a similar stunt.

There are too many anarchists here to try to nod to democracy.

Set a date, place and time about a week from now. Post it, and then watch this thread devolve.

Note to newbies: Whynot and lnelson are good friends
  • I do NOT post! How dare you slander me so, WhyNot!?

Oh wait, yes I do. OK I admit it, my going away party was a total scam. I recommend you do the same, Canyon to the Sky. I also recommend that you tell people you're going to do admirable work wherever it is you're purportedly going because they're more likely to buy you drinks that way. It's annoying having to wear my Groucho Marx mask every time I leave my hiding place in the 11th Street playground to out in Brooklyn, but we all suffer sometimes, right?

If I did it again I would probably pick the Hague, but whatever floats your boat. Speaking of boats, maybe you should say you're off to fight Somali pirates! That would be a totally cool fake adventure. Kick mine's ass anyway. No matter how big and square the state, it ain't got pirates. I don't think.

In conclusion, all you have to do to have a Brooklynian event is declare that there is one and ask the mods to sticky and global it. Don't tell anyone I told you it was so easy though.
  • Something like this would help the flow of drinks not to mention the many BFFTTE that would emerge.

  • Canyon, pick a place you like ( a popular bar, brownstone billiards, an eatery etc) don't give people options on that because we're all indecisive and really just want to be told where to meet, be our Shepherd and we will follow.

Just give a choice on a few days, say thursday or friday. A theme or excuse as said above always helps, like, "I have a terminal illness or help celebrate my upcoming sex change"
  • For the record, we used to have meetups almost every week a few years ago. If there was enough interest it could easily start again. At that time, the board was mostly about Prospect Heights, so we always met there, but now we have about equal participation from Park Slope, so someplace near Flatbush usually gets the best turnout.
  • I believe a global may be warranted.
  • I'll global but not until a date is finalized or at least a poll for dates. A global without even any real info is kinda useless..

Clearly, Mamacita is trying to distance herself from the Anarchists.
  • totally! Someone queue the Sex Pistols!

I believe the OP finds it slightly humorous that she has sought advice from this distinquished group in the past http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=55917
yet has not joined us on recent outings.

She now would like to grace us with her presence, and we are stating "We often need no reason to get together. If you feel the need to lie in order to get us together, we do not know why, but find the behavior to be unobjectionable. Some of us are likely to show up if you merely tell us when and where."
  • trying to convince this group to go drinking is like trying to convince a cat to chase a bird.

    me thinks she be ironic
  • OK well if someone else wants to pick a time and date, feel free, but if not maybe tomorrow I'll think something up.

Yes, I like to be funny.
  • yeah whats up with her posting all the time :o.
  • whats up with me posting all the time?

He was likely referring to the promised disappearance of lnelson.

I'm glad I was not courteous enough to buy her a drink for her going away party.

(lnelson and whynot are friends in real life ....we make fun of each other then as well)
  • For the record, and as whynot certainly knows (but others may not), lnelson has temporarily left Brooklyn to fight the good fight for Truth, Justice and the American Way in an arguably less civilized part of the country.

I'm sure she would love to be able to join us at Brooklynian events... but it will be quite a while before that will be possible.

    yeah.
  • It's funny that your image that's supposed to be funny can't be displayed.

Anyway I clearly dont have enough time to even propose a happy hour, as I said I'd do it on Saturday, or even Sunday, and it's about to be Wednesday and still nada. I'm better at showing up than deciding. So maybe someone else would like the honor. I don't know the bars in the area at all.
  • For
    Fuck's
    SAKE.
