Buh-bye Brooklynian
All,
Well, after nearly 15 years in Brooklyn, and five years on Brooklynian and some 600 posts, I'm heading out of town for the forseeable future. I sold my coop yesterday, packed up my apartment and I'm off to the hinterlands of Western NY State to work with my hands rather than continuing a search for an office gig to dwell in the cubical-death of NYC office work.
Thanks to everyone on the boards for entertaining arguments, occasional useful information, a last-minute straw-boater lend, some happy hours and much support (mostly) during my stoop drinking legal case these past few years.
I'll follow from afar and may occasionally post, and dammit Brooklyn, I'll be back!

I am completely jealous. Let me know if you want a carpenter's apprentice.
....you'll be missed! -
It's sad to see you go, I hope you do check back once in a while.
Best wishes on your new path and many it fill you with more happiness then the Office Space life, ~ I'm sure it will! -
good luck and enjoy the new life with a beer on the "porch!" (hopefully there is one!)

Western New York State? Bring warm clothes!
I grew up in Rochester... living is much easier there. Although some here would suggest that it is less rewarding, I would not. -
wait, wait, wait: board rules clearly state that no one of such long standing (or long stoop-sitting) is to leave town without a happy hour to mark the occasion. are you really trying to spit in the face of all that is holy by skirting that requirement?

It still lacks a date and place. He could pass a baton ,or something, on to canyontothesky. -

Seriously, Coors Light is just wrong on so many levels. -

All the more reason to give that particular brand to someone who chooses the avatar "canyontothesky".
....beautiful country out there. -
ahh...I love Brooklyn to the end...loading the truck and having random people from the block stopping by to wish me well...

See and I cannot wait for the day i can kiss this place goodbye (Brooklyn) for the last time. I have property upstate NY near the start of the Southern Tier and love it there. I will be heading south tho when i can finally escape Brooklyn
You may be surprised tho im told that there is no work in the trades things are tighter than normal there
I dont expect much of the rest of the state to be in better shape -
