Missing Calico in NEED OF MEDICINE
475 st Marks between Classon/Franklin.
On Tuesday night our balcony door blew open and our 10-11 year old calico cat: Tori decided it was time for her to be on her own. She somehow jumped 7 floors from the balcony and is now missing.
We have searched the entire area, to not luck.
Tori has kindney failure. She requires an IV daily. PLEASE PLEASE if you have seen her let me know.

i live in the building next door. there's a lot next to the laundry place where people leave cat food all the time. i haven't seen your cat there, but i'd stake the place out if i were you. i'll keep my eyes open.
i really hope you find your cat. -
Thank you so much, I've been searching there numerous time a day. Someone called us and said they saw her there, but I haven't seen her thus far. Thanks so much for your help!

I have some kitties I feed not too far from there. I will keep an eye out also.

i will keep an eye out for your kitty as well.
if you haven't already, you might want to email Fido so they can post in their missing pets section. they also have a good list of things to do to find a missing animal -- posters inside your building (maybe she ended up on a neighboring balcony?) and outside all around the block, etc. i have also heard that sometimes a trap is the best way to catch a runaway housecat, because they may be too scared to come out otherwise.

Thank you so much everyone! All help is appreciated. Fido tip is great- can't thank enough. It kills me to know she may be out there fending her way, I don' t think she has much chance in the wild streets of Brooklyn.

hey, i walked along the block north of yours (bergen) this afternoon -- i saw one of your posters. if you don't mind me saying so, i think you need to put a LOT more posters up, especially if people already called saying they saw her nearby. you should really blanket the area with big, attention-getting posters. also, i saw some presumably feral cats in a lot on that block. the chain-link gate was locked. maybe you could find out who owns that lot and get inside there with her favorite food. if she's scared and dehydrated she's probably hiding out somewhere, under something, in a basement, etc.
also, i was thinking, is it possible she was blown off your balcony onto a neighboring roof or something? it seems crazy that she would go down 7 stories of balconies on her own.
(yes, i know i have too much time on my hands.) -
NO! any advice or communication is appreciated. Unfortunately I've put up about 50 fliers, and someone or multiple people are ripping them down. I'm not sure why anyone would do something like this- but I've taken off of work the last 4 days so I can walk around replacing them all- without success since they keep getting ripped down.. I have no clue what's wrong with people and why a sign for moving or babysitting is worthy of being up, but not a sign about a life.
We are getting some large laminated ones that can withstand the weather as well.
About her jumping off 7th floors- I am surprised too, I thought we'd be looking for a body but apparently she survived at least enough to flee the area of our building.
We think she's dying actually, or at least she thinks she is and doesn't understand that everything we poke and prod her with keeps her alive. Apparently when cats are ready to go, they like to run into the wild- crazy instincts.
There was a sighting on Bergen last night, by some 7-10 year old kids who were apparently allowed out at 11;30 on their own. I think they were just trying to be helpful, I don't actually think it was Tori they saw- but if you can all keep an eye out, you have my greatest appreciation.
Thanks for your reply- I'll hit up the area with more fliers throughout the day, if you see anyone tearing them down... wish them well cause they're obviously disturbed. -
Poor kitty, probably does feel sick and is hiding not realizing it's best to come out and find help. So sad :-(
I'll sticky this post, also don't forget to post on craigslist and put fliers by the subways. My heart goes out to you, I hope you find this pretty girl. -
Kitty was found - yay!!

really!???
-
did you guys really find her? me and the gf were just talking about her last night, i hope this is true...

LZP is pretty well entrenched in the neighborhood cat rescue efforts.
Correction - LZP pretty much IS the neighborhood cat rescue. I'd believe it. -
really?? that is great! where did you find her, and is she OK? i was thinking about her too, out in this crappy weather.

Yes between her and Caseo I would say that they know EVERY stray out there! -
A friend and I met up with Tori's owners one of the first nights they were out looking for her while we were out feeding our feral kitties. They had a tremendous amount of support from the community, including some of the kids on our block who watch out for our strays. Apparently Tori was found in the attic of an adjoining building, tired, freaked out, and hungry but no worse for wear. Awesome news, especially since it seems most found cats don't have anyone looking for them. So hugs to Tori and her wonderful owners!
