Atlantic Antic time — Brooklynian

Atlantic Antic time

pastoralia
edited November -1 in Park Slope
I'd post this on the Carroll Gardens board but I'm sure a lot of Slopers will be going there too.

The Antic is the Sunday (9/26)

My question which gets asked every year is: Is it legal to walk the Antic with a beer?

Every year the bar owners say don't because you'll get a ticket but every year I see people walking right by the cops holding a beer. Is there any official word on this or is it just a case of "act like a drunk ass and you'll get a summons" or "good cop/bad cop...roll the dice and see which one up ahead it's going to be"?

  • Some years I've actually seen them selling beer on the street from those "keg mobiles" so I've gotta assume it is tolerated, if not legal.
  • Certainly tolerated. I've done it - what else can you do?
  • I know at the 5th Ave fair it's OK but on Atlantic the bars have roped in areas and when you try to leave with your beer someone on the staff says "be careful...you'll get a ticket."

Are they just trying to keep a captive audience? Not that it matters after a few I'll throw caution to the wind because when I'm drunk I'm invincible.
  • Wow... 20 years of street fairs and no tickets. Maybe you've cursed me now
  • what's the best way to get there from south slope, not by car?
  • R train, bike or by foot.
