thanks Patsy for the prayers...we went to Toys R Us for the birthday presents & bought out the store..As a matter of fact, I'm leaving in an hour to watch Justin..Tina & Scott are going out with some friends..It's been very chilly here today..Need a coat tonite-will be in the 40's...looks like no Fall this year-straight to winter............have to work tomorrow so everyone enjoy the rest of the weekend.....bye

Anthony, You mentioned the other day that a blog had all kinds of stories and pictures from the old days and how much you enjoyed it. Please remember that we went through a great deal on this blog with pictures and memories. I stopped writing about them because I thought people were tired of it and also that my era predates most of you. We went up and down 5th avenue with stories about various stores, especially Germains.We did Coney Island a lot. If anyone would like me to start up again about the "Old Days" I will be glad to do so. :?:

Hi everyone--Patsy-watched Justin last night. Got home at 2:30 AM, then got up at 8 and went to work for a few hours. I did relax this afternoon and went to get my hair done....I'll be working these hours until November then it will slow down..I am taking Wednesday off to take Jessica in for her procedure so at least I'll have some free time then...I am taking a week off when Tina's babysitter takes some maternity time so I can watch Justin...in a way I'm glad I'm busy...I'm still adjusting to the apt. & work keeps me busy-except the weekends go by too fast..will sign off now-have to take Cody out and I'm going to bed early tonight...talk to u soon..............

Memories.....
Going to 12thStreet Reformed Church on 12th between 4th & 5th Aves was very convenient since we lived on 12th Street between 5th & 6th Aves. We (our family) spent a lot of time at the Church for various functions. Sunday School, Church Services, Choir rehersals , Young Peoples Organization, Basketball team, Committe meetings etc:. One December evening I was walking home from one of those functions. There was a dusting of snow on the sidewalks. 5th Avenue was busy with Christmas Shoppers. About 1/2 way up the block I heard music. When I got closer to 5th Ave I realized it was coming from a loudspeaker in front of a small (tiny) record store which was squeezed in between Post Jewlers on the corner of 12th Street & 5th and the Barber shop we used. Remember record stores? They sold 78RPM as well as 45rpm and 33 1/3rpm records. There were no tapes or cassetts or Disks yet. The Music that was splashing on to 5th Avenue was Burl Ives singing "Frosty The Snowman". I was probably about 15 or 16 years old. I am 76 (77 in November) and that memory still sticks with me 60 years later. Everytime I hear a Burl Ives tune or see him in an old movie I think of that December night filled with the magical spirit of Christmas in a neighborhood I will never forget.

Warren - love it! There was a record store on 5th near 17th St. Don't remember the owners name but I would save a portion of my weekly allowance (a whole .50!!) to buy a record once-in-a-while. It took a long time to buy one since I really wanted candy more than music!! Hmm, I'm still the same way - some things just never change!!
