Where to get east African spices? — Brooklynian

Where to get east African spices?

I'm having a hard time finding mitmita, which is a very hot and salty Ethiopian seasoning often eaten with kitfo.

Does anyone know where I can get such spices? It doesn't have to be in the neighborhood, I'm willing to travel for them :)

  • Maybe the people at Ghenet could sell you some (or point you in the right direction).

  • You can try Kalustyan's in Manhattan. I've purchased berbere there. If they don't have it, maybe you can get them to blend it for you. They have almost every spice you can think of, so it shouldn't be a problem to make it for you.
  • Did you try Sahadi on Atlantic?

Sahadi's is awesome, but I think Kalustyan's has a wider array of spices.
