Did anyone else see the baby Baboons in the Prospect Park Zoo? I thought they were adorable. I can’t believe there hasn’t been more talk about them.

  • Not yet, but I think I was there when they were conceived. No so adorable.

We love that you love our baby baboons! They've been in the news lately and once they get names, we expect some more publicity. Get on our website (prospectparkzoo.org) asap to submit names - contest ends Friday! :D

Oh, and this is not even close to being in Park Slope.
  • i saw them and loved them!

prospectparkzoo, i know some of the animals have signs on the windows that say "please don't tap on glass, it frightens the animals." why not all? it's disconcerting to see tons of ppl banging trying to get the animal's attention--like the gorgeous pallas cats. the child we were with was overwhelmed by the banging.

also, is the glass a one way mirror? we can see animals but they can't see us?

i was there last weekend, it was gorgeous. i love the kookaburra
  • The Pallas that you mentioned could clearly see me when I was taking his/her pic the last time around - he wasn't happy with my presence (no, I wasn't banging, tapping, or anything ) -

  • i don't think the pallas cat is ever happy.
  • Well, s/he was looking dead at me with whiskers quivering in a growl.
  • i always witness hissing, even though i want to be friends with the cat
  • I would be unhappy if I was stuck in a zoo too..
  • i just don't like all the banging, it must be disconcerting
