Sorry to say that I've had the same experience at Kinds. Their drug inventory must be pretty small, because they were always out of what I needed. Then they would (without my permission) substitute a different variety of the same medication. I didn't like that they were making decisions for me about that. In the year that I had my prescription there, I believe that they filled it incorrectly three times. Not a good track record, and I went back to Duane Reade. I'm not a huge fan of DR, but at least I got the prescription I was supposed to get.

Also, that blond woman who is there all the time can be pretty loud. Is she an owner or a manager? I've heard her be rude to the staff and to customers.

We've always used Prospect Gardens on Union & 7th Ave, not PH but close enough if you are near Grand Army. Kind of quirky place but, other than them occasionally not having enough of an obscure medicine on hand to fill an entire RX once or twice, we've never had a problem in 15 years.

could be an attitude thing, but it's also that they bill themselves (to docs) as a fertility specialty pharmacy -- they're on the info sheet you get handed at clinics, and they're the only ones in BK -- and what i needed was very common in that milieu.

BCP are often used in fertility settings as well (to shrink cysts, etc.), so i'm surprised that was a problem. it's not as much of an opposed issue as it looks from our perspective.

the lecture i got was not for a lady-part-type drug, btw.

if you're closer to the CH side of the world, thiftway on washington / sterling isn't half bad. they've always been reliable for me, anyway.

I do mine through mail-order. I know places like Walgreens does mail-order, but I get mine through my insurance. I couldn't find a convenient place in the area.

I've had perfect service at DR on Flatbush.
Have used them 4 times in the past 2 years including once this week.

I'm speaking up for Kings, because I would really hate to see another local business go under.....God knows how long the Park Heights Stationers place will be vacant, and while I do frequent DR for hair products etc., I am no fan of the idea of big chain stores dominating our neighborhood.

I've been a customer of theirs - primarily for RXs, but from time to time to pick up other off-the-shelf things - for over 20 years. I have had a couple of bad experiences in that time, like being told that it would take 1/2 an hour and at the end of time being told that they were out of stock on my medication (and kinda yelled at them when I have), but on the whole it's been fine, and I am always happy to see a smiling face, and be recognized as a regular customer by their longer-time staffers, when I go to drop off and/or pick up.

Now, if it's something I need that day, I ask when I drop off the prescription if they have it in stock.......

Overall I think they try hard, and generally get it right. And that it's important to patronize long-time local businesses.

Gotta say that I'm taking my business from Thriftway to Neergaard. Been using Thriftway, and they have lost presecriptions many times. The last presecription I got filled there didn't fit in the bottle. The top was just resting on the top of the bottle because there were too many pills. They deliver, which is why I use them in the first place - it's very convenient. But the open bottle was the last straw.

I'd go back to Crest @ Flatbush & Dean more often if it weren't a bit out of my way. Ludwig's @ Washington & Stirling also seems ok.
