FOUND: Small Black White Cat on 7th Ave
This afternoon while waiting on line at Louie G's on 7th ave and 9th street, this small cat popped out of nowhere and immediately started running around in between cars and hassling people who were walking by. My roommate bought a small can of cat food and we were able to lure it in. It's a small female cat that can't weigh more than 4 or 5 pounds. She has no collar but the claws on her hind paws have been recently clipped so I'm guessing she's not a stray.
Anyway, If anyone knows who this cat belongs to or can provide advice as to what to do with her please let me know. I can't keep her in my apartment very long since we already have two cats.
Also, here's a pic of her:

I'm almost positive that this cat belongs to the small bodega next door. I saw him in there the other night. I'll go down and ask them if they are missing their cat. Please go by there and ask them as well. Thank you.

Yes, this is their cat! I went by and they are missing her ... her name is Jennifer. It's nice that you were concerned, but you can return the cat to her home now. Thanks.

Oh, and it's the small bodega that sells cigars and stuff, not the bigger one nearby.

this is a classic thread.

I feel like a total ass! I've been in that bodega tons of times and never seen this cat before. Thanks for the quick responses, I'll return her immediately, although I kinda want to get her a collar so this doesn't happen again. She was just running around so cluelessly and begging to get hit by a car.
On a side note, I'm sort of glad to see her go so soon. She's adorable, but she spent the entire night biting me in the head. In fact she's biting me right now as I type this. Wow though, I still can't believe I stole a bodega cat. Next up, is that morbidly obese Met cat. -
Well, they say the roads in Hell are paved with good intentions ... just kidding. Don't feel like an ass. No harm done other than worrying the owners for a bit. And the cat probably had a fun little adventure.
Besides, it's an easy mistake to make since she's out on the busy street with no collar. And I think it is a good idea to get her a collar - I was thinking of doing the same thing, or at least suggesting to the bodega guy to get one. -
Bodegas are notorious for not chipping or collaring their cats. It's not your fault. You did a good deed, and did the right thing given what you knew and the situation.
Get the owner to get a collar for his pet!
I wish there were more nice people like you that took in stray cats. :cat: -
I've seen that cat out on the sidewalk several times and yes, she's all over the place! I watched her sneak under a car and then leap out and wrap herself around the leg of a man passing. Oh yes, he was started. I was wondering if she belonged to the cigar shop so that's good to know--I too have seen her wandering on Seventh Ave. I don't want to see her having to be taken down to Animal Kind for being hit!
You did the right thing, Mita. Bravo. -
So, this is an happy out come? Right?
-
I went by later that evening and they got their kitty back and they were happy. All's well that ends well.

Found orange cat (red mackerel) on 11 Street and 4th Ave. Does anybody know who it might belong to? It has an injured left front paw and is limping. We are in the process of trying to trap the cat but unsuccessfully so far.
