Re-Visit at Blue Ribbon — Brooklynian

Re-Visit at Blue Ribbon

edited November -1 in Park Slope
So 5 of us set out to a Sunday Night Dinner at Blue Ribbon Sushi and the wait was 30 minutes. Pretty sure it was the 5 people that created that wait. If we had been 2 people we would have been right in there.

So.. went next door to Blue Ribbon and were seated immediately. I have eaten there many times but it has been 6 months since the last visit. I was a happy camper. We started with a smoked Fish platter that we shared and every thing on the plate was lovely. Someone ordered a bowl of Cream of tomato soup and though I couldn't get through a bowl of this concoction (just too rich) the taste I had was delicious. Two Gumbos on the table.. Sunday Night Special and it was made with sausage, shrimp and okra and Beef Tips. The later have a kind of heavy texture to this mix that made it kind of Beef stewy and didn't remind me of Gumbo in new Orleans was still delicious. I tasted Duck Confit.. nice. There was a skirt steak on the table that I didn't try... I have had it here before and it was done nicely.

And I had a hamburger... "leave the bread in the kitchen and can I have string beans instead of fries"..NO Problem. Shoot me.. I am a low carb freak but a good taster from every one else"s dinner.

The service was sincere, friendly and professional in the way it should be in the many star restaurants in this City.

Send forth the very special Park Slope arrows or just give your personal opinion but I am happy Blue Ribbon is part of the Restaurant map in this hood.

I have eaten here with well behaved kids.. early on a weekday evenings and was made to feel that i had the most adorable children in PS.

I have eaten here very late at night with my husband and tried not to ogle those couples that look like transplants from Manhattan, the man being 30 years older than the lady and he on the make and the bill must have been $400 considering the bottle of champagne and all those oysters on the table. The meal looked sumptuous but that lady looked too smart to give it up for an excess of oysters.

hey.. I just like this place.

  • Hands down one my favorite places, if not number one place. It's pricey, but the food is always good. Everything on that menu is absolutely delicious - from the seafood to the fried chicken. The sauteed calamari is just a vat of butter-garlicky goodness. The oysters make me feel like I took a dip in the ocean. Even that damn bread is hard to put down. Never thought much of their sushi place next door, but regular Blue Ribbon is certainly the blue ribbon restaurant of Park Slope. Has been for about 10 years now.
  • I like there oyster bar very much. . But, Sushi @ next door is just ok for the price.
  • Glad I didn't do the Sushi thing last night!
  • Yes, Kappa Sake House has vastly superior sushi just down the street at a fair price and with fun for the whole family, with never a wait and clowns and magicians to delight children and parents alike! Plus Taro sucks [/sarcasm]
