7) How about beggar sightings/reports?
1) Marmaduke
2) More adverstisments
3) Ed Anger
4) Amy Sohn
5) Jumble
6) More police blotter stuff
Any of the above would be just great.
What about a beggar blog? Have smartmom interview the beggars over dinner at two boots bi-weekly? -

It's where alot of "those" people shop, you know, the black negros, the people who us here on this board would like to just go back to Africa (or at least stay in crown heights). -
Oh that's where they shop, I've been wondering. Don't be such a blatant instigator. This board seems to have people of all stripes, as does Conway.

Rampant racism is not uncommon all over this board, just pointing it out. It’s a late, advanced stage of gentrification, I congratulate you all.
One person's civic duty is another person's instigation. Hey I don't want any trouble man, I see how you handle detractors, like a pack of wild dogs, or even worse, a group of black teenagers walking past you on the street looking to take your ipods (I mean what else could they be up to?) -
One of my favorite sayings is perspective is reality. You sound like you have a big chip on your shoulder. It's been my experience that a lot of times, people cry racism when they feel like they have been a victim in the path. Just cause this board or this neighborhood is mostly white and decently priveleged doesn't make them racist. Just because people don't want to be harassed by beggars (black or white) doesn't make them classist.

I like your favorite saying...
Perspective: I don't like black people
Reality: I’ll live in Park Slope
Perspective: I don't like poor people
Reality: I’ll live in Park Slope
Perspective: I don't like black or poor people
Reality: OMG, why are there poor or black people in Park Slope? And why...shudder...shudder...are they bothering me with such trivial issues and the fact they are poor and have nothing to eat while my cleaning lady didn’t sweep under the couch again?
Chip on my shoulder, what of it?
Thank you at least for being honest about the fact you’re all white and affluent, be proud, it’s the only thing of value for human beings in America anymore, I’m sure you all worked very hard to get where you are today.
I can only pray to God that anyone who has complained on this board about beggars gets a knife held to their throat and robbed of their big, fat wallets (it happens everyday).
KARMA kids, think about it while sobbing at the precinct, looking at pictures of thousands of dark complected suspects, whiile the white cops from long island laugh at you behind your back. -

Isn't that funny? Anonymous trolls like this one inevitably start with "you white people", which is usually a dead giveaway that they know nothing about park slope and the people who live there. -
I'm half-brown. I have no kids. I'm not a "newcomer".
Talk about assumptions! -

that IP address thing again??? How does that work? - Sorry to interrupt your fascism but you'll be hearing not from me again, I think I've made my point.
Go watch Seinfeld of whatever white racists do on a Friday night to feel better about the mess they've created. Maybe one of my beautiful black brothers will stop being lazy and rob one of you tonight. -

Cool, a fellow Technite. Glad to see Tech alumni is putting their specialized high school education to good use.
LOL, Brothers would never rob me, they usually waste their time trying to holler at me, assuming that I'm visiting from Sunset Park.
Come to think of it, I'm sure all the WHITE people in this nabe assume that I am yet another broke and penniless undocumented housekeeper on her way home. Everyone knows all Latinas in Prime Park Slope are... right? I mean, we certainly would never live here, have degrees, amazing careers, serve the community, pay taxes, clean up after our dogs and gasp....be literate enough to respond to posts on the internet! I mean, I walk into Back to the Land and they offer to help me!!! They MUST think I'm looking to steal the organic fruit! I'm such a victim! They are such racists! Even my dog is posting on the Craigslist pets section, hoping to be rehomed to a White household. I repeat...I am such a victim. -

Talk not to him like that! He's from NYC, born and breed!
Come on now, Guest - if we don't hear from you again, it's not because you've made your point. More likely, it's that you've been found out to be full of shit. Let's take a look at this -
A) Through sheer hard work and determination, you're a well-educated person that has a victim mentality none the less. You like to spend your valuable time slinging insults at people that you see as beneath you.
You're a person with a victim mentality because you've failed to achieve your goals, but not for lack of effort, right? No, it's because The Man held you down. This has embittered your outlook on 'our' society and slinging insults on a message board is your way of venting - stirring up a bucket of shit is the only way for you to strike back at your 'oppressors.' To add weight to your merit-less words, you've added false credentials.
C) You're neither well educated nor is race/class an issue - you're simply here to stir up a bucket of shit because you have nothing better to do.
If we put Occam's Razor to the task (which essentially states that the most simple explanation is the most likely, just in case you didn't learn that through your studies), we can immediately rule out A. B and C weigh in pretty evenly, so I'm sure that the truth is in there some where.
Have a nice day. Take your bucket of shit with you on your way out, please. -

maybe you should go back and ask for a refund on that Doctorate from Columbia.

I have seen many of these bags, but not the actual store. When seeing many people on the subway carrying these bags, I have wondered what was so good about this store. Cheap threads? Now I know. -

but it's not ironic or even spelled correctly (on new!AG's part) so it just doesn't qualify. at least by my rules. -

This is amazing stuff, and actually is one argument AGAINST disabling anonymous guest comments on this board. In a day when most people hide their true feelings behind a handshake and a smile, it's interesting to have a clear window into the soul, so to speak, of people walking around in civil society with seething animosity and resentment. The irrational hatred really could inform your daily life and dealings with people in this, or any, neighborhood. -

I 2nd the idea for a poll. From what I'm reading it seems that most people here are NOT in favor of guest postings.
Maybe it's time to test that theory.
Or, don't allow guest postings for a period of time and then see if there's an improvement (meaning less spam, hate-mongering, etc.) -

Every time we have a poll like that, it overwhelmingly favors eliminating guest posting. Someone (AW?) recently noted that the polls are biased by the fact that only registered users are permitted to vote.Flexichick wrote: Maybe it's time to test that theory.
That experiement has been run on the PH board, and there has been improvement in those respects at least, although it has resulted in a significant decrease in "mixing it up" (with the noted recent exception of the GM food at the Coop thread).
