Subject: It's all over now...

Thai restaurant coming to Franklin Ave. Sign on the old J's Wong Chinese takeout on Franklin close to Park (and now closed Pawn shop) "Thai restaurant coming soon" It's a small space so we will see, but nothing says gentrification quite like Thai food. Unless of course Mexican food.

    Is that shitty pizza place on Washington and.... Prospect?... still around? That's still a stronghold. Plus you guys already have Thai on the corner of Bergen and Washington IIRC, along with various boutique type shops and a place that spells Brooklyn "Breukelen"

    I don' think the pizza place on Franklin Place is 'shitty'; and the old Chinese takeout spot was never going to be the pawn shop. The pawn shop was going to be on Park Place.

    ....that was one of my favorite places to watch the drug dealers a few years ago; they were always going back and forth to the trash can to get more supplies.

    The view was better than the pizza though.

    Did it get better?

    I stopped going when the corner improved.

    The Thai restaurant that's part of Sushi Tatsu on Franklin & Dean isn't bad (for a Thai restaurant combined with a sushi place, that is). We order from there fairly often and we're usually happy with the quality. That said, it's never a bad thing to have another option in the neighborhood.

    Anyone tried the new Oaxaca Taqueria on Prospect Pl. yet?

    We'll know gentrification has really hit when the sushi places start moving in.

    Hate to sound nick picky.., BUT the piazza still sucks to me on Franklin Ave AND Sushi Tatsu is the worst for Sushi.

    Wish Nana on 5th Ave.,in my old neighborhood, would re-locate out here to these parts.

    I love Oaxaca! Really great sized serving - I'm not a big eater - and cheap with quality ingredients!

    CUMMON! Sushi tatsu is the dankness and a slice of brooklyn are the homies! If anything the most overrated eatery around is Chavellas. Apparently the owner of Nam's used to be a su-chef and IS making once Nirobi's Napsack a sushi spot which will have free fresh sushi for the opening week, so look out! yumm

    And whynot, damn right! It's time to hit the watchtower with some halloween hijinks! I'm trying to gather a coalition of the local mischievous dunions to take action! The friggin' thing is like the eye in the lord of the ring:

    Agreed, any decorations should be done in a way that functionality remains intact.

    extra points if you can somehow decorate the NYPD scooter parked by the tower to resemble the munster mobile. You'll just need a little imagination, and some pre-decorated cardboard.

    Protip: Drink lots of beer beforehand and work quickly to avoid arrest ....Captain Elvio Capocci seems to have them more alert than the last CO

    Very true, I'm just poking fun. However, while risking taking this thread in the wrong direction, I would argue the tower doesn't actually solve any problems but simply relocates all the dealing and violence, primarily pushing it further east into CH... where there are no sushi bars I am aware of.

    If it makes you feel any better, drug dealing was pushed off Underhill in approximately 2004, then off Washington in 2006, and now you guys on Franklin are doing your part.....

    (dates subject to debate, of course)

    The war on drugs makes no sense, but until we stop fighting it, I'd really prefer it be fought on "foreign soil".
