J H Market Expanding
Best Korean Fruit and Vegetable store in the South Slope is expanding into the store front next door! (Yay for one less real estate office.)
I have been a fan of this place for as long as I have lived here - their produce is always fantastic, although the selection has always been a tad small....hopefully that will change when they double in size. And the couple that owns the place are great people.
Unfortunately, all this means they will be closed for two weeks, but I guess we'll survive. Can't wait to see the new store.
(And no, I'm not them, just a big fan....)

I'm a big fan too, and Mr. and Mrs. Lee cannot be a nicer couple. They take great care with their produce. They always sort boxes of grape tomatoes to get rid of bad ones before they are put on the shelf, for example.
I spoke to Mrs. Lee a few weeks ago and they were considering selling grass-fed beef, and some kind of well-raised chicken (not organic, but no growth hormone and no antibiotics). At the time I suggested Murray's chicken. Not sure about seafood. -
Agreed agreed! I've been shopping here since we moved to the neighborhood in 1994. They have THE BEST produce - which is amazing because they don't have much space, but they never pick out anything bad. I'm excited for them!

Where is this? Is this the place on 15th and 5th?
-
7th between 11th & 12th
-
That place really is the best!

New awning up...store now named "The Bad Wife". Can't wait to hear THAT story!
Since they are Korean...maybe this has some resonance?

It sounds like a cute show. Very tongue-in-cheek. Presumably the store name is the same?

People in this neighborhood really need to lighten up.

I've never been there before. I usually go to the place on the corner of 7th and 11th - the super bodega. I'll have to give them a try. If for no other reason to counteract the moron quoted in that story.
“I have mixed feelings,” said one neighbor. “As a feminist, I think it’s offensive. I wish it said ‘The Bad Husband,’ but unfortunately that’s not the traditional humor.”
You gotta love maroons who think they're so enlightened. Her answer to something that is supposedly an insult to women is to insult men. Chauvinism is Chauvinism honey. -
They have reopened this morning and I am so excited. The new store is beautiful and they have done a predictably fine job stocking it with all kinds of great stuff.
It appears I will never have to go to the ripoff Village Market ever again! -
Yea, went there yesterday and they have a great selection of stuff. That and the owners are so nice. I will never go to the major ripoff La Dolce Vita again.
Howdy, Stranger!
