Probably the wrong place to ask, but: Settler of Catan?

Anyone in Park Slope a fan of this board game?

  • Omigod I love that game. I play online a lot. We should have a SOC night though if that is what you are getting at.
  • Subject: definately!

Alright! I was afraid that I was the only geek on here - but hey, this is the internet, right? Geeks abound.

I'd love to get a small group together to play Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, or any other geeky board game. Besides the Tea Lounge, what public venues would be a good place to play? The Gate might be good, if we could get an outdoor table.
  • I've heard rumors of D&D at Freddy's in Prospect Heights...
  • Settlers of Catan is certainly geeky, but D&D is a whole other level of geek-dom. What next, LARP in Prospect Park? (which actually wouldn't surprise me, considering some of the people who came out of the woodwork for the Sakura Matsuri Festival at the Botanical Gardens).

Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!

Yeah, the gate would be good. If we got there early maybe? I have people that would definitely play if you want to just pick a night.
  • I haven't played Settlers of Catan, but I've heard good things about it and am interested in playing. Would you be willing to deal with a newbie? I do have some RPG experience, and experience with Steve Jackson-type games like Illuminati and CarWars.
  • I'd gladly play with anyone who was interested enough in learning how. I've also got a few other geeky board games:

    Carcassonne - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/822
    Carcassonne: The City - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/12902
    Samurai: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/3
    Settlers of Catan: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/13

I'd gladly travel over to Prospect Heights, if there is a suitable venue - someplace where we can get a decent sized table and beer would be good.

    Cool. Soda Bar would work.

I also have Illuminati (original and deluxe editions), and my friend Chris has the Lord of the Rings version of Risk. Outgeek that!
  • Subject: Off the subject, but-

    Daniel-

    is that a Chihuly?
  • Yes. I took the picture during a visit to the Corning Museum of Glass. There are some more on my website: http://photos.jurnove.net

As for Soda Bar - sounds good! I'll post something early next week about a possible date for getting together for some gaming.
  • I love Illuminati too. In the biblical sense. Soda sounds good to me!
