Mugged: G-train Clinton Washington Stop — Brooklynian

Mugged: G-train Clinton Washington Stop

I was trying to buy a Metrocard at the machine, not near the attendant, and a man was sitting on the stairs. People were around, so I wasn't worried, and then people were not around, suddenly. He jumped up and came at me with a huge knife, probably a good 8" long. He held it in the air like he was going to stab me. I was terrified, and he asked for my wallet, so I threw it at him, he looked at me like "what is that it?" and he ran off. The police came, they were very thorough, and kind, unlike what I expected for some reason. ALWAYS USE THE MACHINE BY THE TELLER! DON'T TRUST ANYONE LINGERING AROUND AND DO REPORT LOITERERS!

  • I witnessed a purse-snatching when the G train stopped at Clinton Washington and have heard of several muggings at that station. I think petty muggers and thieves like the station for its high volume of naive pratt kids from the mid-west stumbling through there at all hours of the night drunk and stoned.
  • SO sorry to hear this! Hope you are no longer freaked.

Had a similar experience in Midtown (SHOCKER!) but the guy shoved me and grabbed the cash I was putting into the Metrocard machine.
I was stupid enough to chase him (what can I say, adrenaline and anger trumps common sense) but he got away.

The police can immediately and the following day two detectives canto my office and followed up. They told me that was the key - if you can help them identify the mugger, they can get him off the street.

If you can ID him, please follow thru. It will help everyone.
  • that sucks but you did the right thing.

I'm pretty sure metrocard vending machines have cameras in them. do you know if they were able to get an image of the guy?
  • no I don't know if they got an image, but I cannot seem to imagine what he looks like anymore. I keep seeing different faces in my head. But now I am just super paranoid on the street. If someone looks at me the wrong way, my heart races. I hope this ends soon!
  • Hi cosmosonearth, I'm sorry to hear this happened to you, that's terrible. Just wondering what time this happened?

    I hope you're ok...
