    Seriously? Why and how. A moron can tell you why and how. One or more of the "Mods" on here didn't like what I wrote so they changed it. Simple. Not a huge deal? Let's see, we already have one thread about Carnivore and Mod Abuse, I say let's have another. I'll take a survey asking how many people think it's ok for immature "Mods" to change posts they don't like and of course you'll make it Global so all can take part. Let's see if it floats their boat to have their posts changed. And no, it's not free speech. Ya might want to refresh yourself with the meaning.

    They were saying on BBC last night that most mid term elections result in the president's party losing house and senate seats. Although somewhat comforting, I still think and hope that people are getting fed up with the present two party system.

    Here's my dream:

    1. The tea party becomes a real party. The right wing people in the republicans defect to join them. The screen out people obsessed with gays, guns and god ....and find some fiscal conservatives to run. University of Chicago types. (I know, it ain't gonna happen, but it is a dream)

    2. The people in the republican and the democratic party who are practically the same, get together and form one party. "The moderates". They write legislation that tries to reduce childhood obesity.

    3. The genuinely left people of the democratic party refuse to join the new moderate party, and form a party that is genuinely left. They advocate for wealth redistrubtion, and drive 1985 volvos wagons.

    Also the economy. Whenever the economy tanks, the party & president in power pay the price.

    But why look at history when one can form simplistic narratives!?

    These are, seriously, the most democratic and constructive things that could happen to our increasingly broken political system.

    WN, your plan sadly collapses when you remember that almost no one cares about 99% of politics. we just like to shout about abortion and teh gayz. so i see most of us ending up in one of your two fringe groups, and the whole cycle begins anew.

    like a seed to a flower to leaf-mold. it's almost beautiful. sniff.

    I am aware that those obsessed with "god, gays and guns" are a big part of our culture.

    .....but, among other qualities, I was an Econ major.

    I can dream, damn it.

    ...If you appoint me benevolent dictator, I promise to deal with the fiscal issues first and then discuss those pesky social issues at a later time. How's tuesday afternoon look for you guys?
