The problem isn't bringing your kids to a restaurant/bar.
It's not immediately taking them outside/elsewhere when they start shrieking, until you can calm them.
Brunch. Last Sunday. Multiple tables with kids 4 years or younger. Many of which spent time shrieking or crying. My ears honestly hurt at one point. That sh-t ain't healthy for anybody.
I understand that kids cry. It's what they do sometimes. But parents, you simply must remove your kid from the situation until s/he calms down.

In public we usually flipped for whomever would be expendable, as in...remove the problem to outside at first whelp, no soup for you (the expendable parent). I think this is what our particular parents did.

Boygabriel, I completely agree that parents should remove shrieking kids until the kids stop crying.
But perhaps you should also find a less kid-friendly spot for brunch?

As a parent of 3 year old twins, I'll agree 100%, and I have ruined a few of my own meals outside w/ a screaming l'il maniac.
Also, to my fellow parents, pick the time & place carefully. Brunch is fine, but diners are usually so much easier than fancy restaurants. -

I don't mind kids. We were all kids once, I think. But I think parents have more responsibility in enclosed public spaces than some of them assume.

I would take the word "Bar" out of this topic heading because it's never OK to bring your baby to a bar - crying or not. I hate that. It's so inappropriate, selfish and obnoxious. I don't show up at their kids' day care with my friends and drink beer and do shots of tequila.
Otherwise I agree with the OP. There's nothing wrong with bringing a baby to a restaurant. Parents are usually pretty good about removing their kids when they scream. And I'm sure taking a baby to a restaurant is far more annoying and inconvenient for the baby's parents than any of us patrons.
I have more of an issue with the parents who bring their kids to the Food Coop and let them run amok among the aisles. I'm thinking of one utterly oblivious woman and her two tow-headed holy terrors. I feel so bad for the kids because the mother is so clueless I have no idea how these kids are still alive. They have free day care available so there's no excuse.

what about brothels? Can I bring my kids to the brothel with me?
There is no sign against it.
What if their mom is working? -
Nelson's Dad: Great game, son. I'm taking you to Hooters!
Nelson: I don't wanna bother mom at work.
