What happened? — Brooklynian

What happened?

The CSS is off, the whole WYSIWYG editor is gone, cannot post new topics?

I realize transition is bitch, but wow.

The site looks like garbage on a shingle on Firefox, Mac OSX.

Thoughts?

  • I'm using Firefox on Mac OS X and the site looks fine. Different, true, but fine.

What do you mean you cannot post new topics? You just did, didn't you? Isn't this very topic brand new, created by you?

As for the text editor, DH or Jeffrey must be working on it right now, because it's been here for days now, and is suddenly gone.

If you've been gone since the switchover, then you have a lot to adjust to... but it's not all bad, not at all.

  • On my home computer I can't start a thread or even reply because there are ads over the input boxes. I also can't hit the "send post" button. This on Mac OS X running Firefox.

  • Hi all. We were working on the text editor so we had to take it down temporarily.

I also noticed that the overall font size had been bumped up today, so I bumped that back down.

In terms of the layout issues people are reporting with the posting form, perhaps your browser has cached an old version of the style/layout settings?

Try holding down the SHIFT button while clicking the Refresh button in the browser. That should clear it up but let me know if it doesn't. (I'm currently in Mac Firefox as well)

  • What version firefox is being used? I'm posting this right now from Mac OSX, Firefox 2.0.0.20 without a problem, though the search bar position is off and needs to be fixed.

Can you post a screenshot of the problem or email it to me?

  • I use an ancient browser at work, Explorer 6. (I know, it sucks).

Anyway, something was done over the weeked that prevents me from seeing everyone's entire posts. It now shows only the first few lines of people's posts.

....prior to thise weekend, I could see the whole posts. (even post upgrade).

  • whynot,

Can you take a screenshot and post it here?

    Thanks!

  • see how these posts appear shorter then they are? There is no way to scroll down within specific posts.

...this prevents us from solving one of the US's most formidable problems.

  • I'm sure with your help, we'll figure out a solution by the end of the year. Thanks

  • Okay, I'll take a lookie-loo.

    One question first:

Does the reply form at bottom look okay?

(in threads and on forum/board pages)

    Oh, one more thing:

What's up with Solitaire open on the desktop there?

    just kidding

    You're referring to 2011, natch.

  • Hold down SHIFT and click the REFRESH button in your browser and have a look now.

  • nope, that doesn't change anything.

....you know you'll get the blame for the achievement gap if you don't fix this, right?

BTW, it shows up on my iphone just fine.

  • here's a shot from this page

yes, the reply form works. However, the frames on the main page are messed up as well:

  • One more question, just looking at the width of things in those latest screenshots: What resolution are you using at work?

Did I mention IE6 is awesome?

  • 1280 x 1024

Dude, we are so close to solving the achievement gap. ....now is no time to making fun of IE6.

  • By the way, something I just added (especially for going back through prior months or years of ollllld posts):

    On the main /forum/ page

    -OR-

on the main page for each board...

Hover your mouse over the time of latest post at far right (each topic)

    Good?

  • Heh, wait. Let me format that for NY time, lol.

I like. It allows me to not have to subtract to figure out when the last post was.

  • I just need to correct for end of daylight savings time. Needs to fall back one hour.

  • Yikes, what happened? this worked on IE6 before.

  • Whynot, give it another go (SHIFT+RELOAD)

  • good news! you solved this problem

bad news, but not this one

  • No, not bad news. Haven't started the second one yet.

    FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE, FOO!

  • Fine.

how are you doing in solving the achievement gap!

  • I've been focusing my attention mainly on the coffee gap.

  • you are so much smarter than I
