Free Anti-Gun Violence Film Screening and Discussion — Brooklynian

Free Anti-Gun Violence Film Screening and Discussion

Free event for the community:

On November 18th, S.O.S. Crown Heights and our partner anti-gun violence organizations will be screening a selection of anti-gun violence films and hosting a panel discussion. This event is building on the success of <font color="#d05711">last month's anti-gun violence screening by DCTV's Beyond Bullets project that featured "A Harlem Mother" and several of their short films. The panel will include several S.O.S. staff members and should be an exciting and engaging evening for all.

The event will take place November 18th, 2010 at LaunchPad-Crown Heights' new creative gathering place focused on the arts, community programs, technology, and anything else that captures the imagination. They are located at 721 Franklin Avenue.

Time: 7:00 PM

  • I have been trying to get 1 866 GUN-STOP posters to put up around the neighborhood. I first asked the NYC Police Foundation in August and got no answer. I asked again last week and they said they will send me a poster and some "tip cards". I asked for more than one poster and I have not heard back from them. I think getting these posters and having them put up around the neighborhood will make people in the area aware of a program that seems to get little or no push from the NYPD, the Foundation or the city. I wish you luck in your efforts.

  • I'm agin it.

Gun control is not a new issue to any human society or civilization. In the name of safety it is still used to unarm the law-abiding public, gain popularity and feign sympathy.

  • Agin what?

  • What about the poster from SOS that reads:

"Don't shoot. I want to grow up".

The poster depicts a minority child posing the question.
