the ever backtracking of the withdrawal date. — Brooklynian

the ever backtracking of the withdrawal date.

would there be generational/perpetual war now?

Comments

  • When has there not been perpetual war? We were bombing Saddam all through the 90s, and many conservatives want to start a third war with Iran.

I find it sad how few Americans realize that their country is in a constant state of threatening or engaging in war, and yet view it as a 'peace-keeping' country.

  • I know it feeds the military industrial complex. all these none stop wars and all those idiot client states thinking they are being protected. more like a mifia than anything else. from europe to asia.

20 NATO "partners" still shelling out troops for the Afghan war for, well, forever. (At least the Lisbon-summit declaration did not beat around the bush: "Transition will be conditions-based, not calendar-driven, and will not equate to withdrawal of ISAF [International Security Assistance Force] troops.") in a related news nato pass rules to allow

Barack Obama's plan to defeat Ugandan LRA rebels

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-11837310

  • Wait, are you against fighting to end the LRA civil war?

How much do you know about the LRA?

  • yes those guys are horrible but, if they are so horrible people will have to eventually learn and do something about themselves. africa doesn't need more western intervention and activism.

if people want to kill themselves in other countries let them do it themselves.

us troops should stay home. the reason i'm saying is, it always starts with advisers, next thing you know they'll be sending troops etc... all wars should be defensive wars.

look at asia, did pretty well without western idealism and activism. protest and flowery words and finical support doesn't go any where. just make more beggars out of people.

look at pol pot he got overthrown eventually.

if africa gets left alone it will sort out its own mess like asia and europe did before hand. look at all the wars europe had.

the constant wars made europe strong. the east literally had thousands of years lead over the west. but the wars made the difference in the west. it build nation states.

africa is mostly a western construct. if they had constant wars, or partitions along lines of ethnicity. their nations will become stronger, they'll expoit their own resournces better. instead of screwing the other ehtncities over in the same country because oh they aren't my own people etc...they won't have to worry about the differences about their neighbors. they'll use more of that energy on education and other things etc...

once they get strong nation states, they'll learn to live or tolerate the differences. before that they really don't need western activism. beggars with bowls will always be beggars.

africa is bless with resources asia/europe wish it has.

  • It is very difficult to compare the historical experiences of Africa and Asia prior to the 20th century.

    The differences are myriad.

  • human nature is no different. thats why africa has a problem its human nature to notice the differences and the artificial construct of africa needs to go.

  • human nature hardly tells the whole story of the differences in history between Africa and Asia.

For starters, most Asian countries were never fully colonized, whereas almost all of sub-saharan Africa was brutally colonized for over a century.
