    It *looks* like the same people as Playa, a look at the menu did not impress me.

    Wifey and I went Friday night. I really don't think it is connected to Playa, at least not that I could detect. The place was fairly packed when we arrived at 7:30 which I suppose speaks to the universal appetite for yet more Mexican in PS. Bottom line? Food was good, it has potential to be even better if they keep working on it, there were signs of inventiveness and imagination as opposed to so many others in the neighborhood. The service was friendly but utterly overwhelmed and/or confused. I couldn't really tell if the problem was in the kitchen or on the floor, though the end result was a long wait for our mains. Prices felt a tad on the high side, and the $9 for chips & (small) cup of guac is just stupid and insulting. I'll probably give it another shot in a few weeks to see how it shapes up.

    $9 for a small cup of Guac?!? I'll stick with Tacos Nuevo Mexico and they deliver to north slope.

    Wife had a chicken dish which she said was nice and tender but marred by fairly lifeless flavoring. I had the fish (sauteed tilapia) tacos with grilled cactus and corn on the side = $16. My dish was pretty tasty and could be improved further with a few tweaks. I did honestly feel the price was too steep for what I received though.

    Went there for their first Brunch on Saturday. the special is actually pretty good. You get an entree like huevos rancheros with a side of fruit and yogurt, tea or coffee, and a cocktail or beer for $15. Food was good. Want to go back when I have some money to spend, the roast pork looks awesome.

    Had great cheese tamales there and then excellent carne asada. Flavor was not lacking; it was really the best Mexican I've had in a while.



    They are absolutely not related to the Playa people - I asked about that.

    I went last night with some friends. The prices are definitely too high especially since the food was just ok.

    The guac was great but, yes, the portion was too small and it was eight dollars.

    Of the entrees, I think mine was probably the best but still overpriced (enchiladas suizas $16). My friends ordered tacos which came with two tacos, rice and beans, and I think one other side. Neither of them were particularly impressed with the food. I think the taco platters were $15-$16 because one of them commented that at Oaxaca, right down the street, for $10 you can get three great tacos that come with rice and beans.

    Also, I had sangria which was very good but had way too much fruit in the fruit-to-sangria ratio.

    Don't think I'll be back unless they have good enough specials or make some improvements to the menu.

    Had a mediocre meal there last night. The jicama "salad" was strips of jicama, carrot, cuke marinated in lime and chile powder. Not terrible but not good and too pricey for what was essentially a bar snack. The pork asado was awful. The meat was really tough and the sauce was sweet and gloppy. I could barely get down a few mouthfuls. The chicken mole special was a little better, but the sauce was also overly sweet without any other flavors. Can't believe the place was crowded. I'm def not going back.
