Finally, a Memorial for the 1960 Plane Crash

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the plane crash at the corner of Sterling and 7th (and in Staten Island's Miller Field) in 1960, a big memorial is being unveiled in Greenwood Cemetery on December 16th. The eight-foot-tall granite monument will feature a bronze plaque etched with the names of those killed, and will stand near a gravesite where remains of some victims are interred.

About time! I'm sure there'd be a plaque of some sort on Sterling Place if not for the developers trying to sell condos.
