  • I would support a Chinatown place here in PS with similar prices. Sadly, with the rents around here, I doubt anyone can offer what chinatown does.

  • I for one would be grateful for some decent Cantonese; the Slope and the rest of the city are all about Schezuan and other Chinese cuisines. It would also be great if in addition to lo mein, char shu ding, peppery pressed duck, and other Cantonese staples there were a variety of won ton soups with duck, pork, etc.

  • High rents and (one hopes) fairer labor standards, too.

  • Chinatown isn't far at all from Park Slope. Just jump on the F train and get off at the first stop in Manhattan, and the Brooklyn Chinatown is pretty close too. When you consider that the Hanco in Park Slope can’t even have the same prices as the Hanco in Carrol Gardens/Cob Hill, then you can forget the dream of a dollar dumpling place in the Slope.

And if you do want dollar dumplings go to Mosco street in the Manhattan Chinatown. The street is only about 20 yards long so you’ll find it. 5 dumplings or 4 pork buns for a buck. And they are goooooooood.
