Where is the Grand Army Plaza Christmas Tree? — Brooklynian

Where is the Grand Army Plaza Christmas Tree?

Just went there last night to show off my favorite Christmas tree in NYC and its no where to be found. Not a single Christmas decoration in sight.

Anyone know why its not up this year or when its going up?

  • ???

yesterday it was the middle of the arch....

  • I blame the Grinch!

  • It's not the cool tree with the changing lights I've seen in the past that I think may have just been a metal frame. What I've seen this year is a smaller, def. real tree that is sitting outside of the arch. A similar tree and menorah are at the opposite corner of the park as well, at PPSW and Parkside.

  • I remember reading that the tree wasn't stored properly. Went up last year to take a close look as I remembered how wonder struck I was by the hallucinogenic effects of the year before.

Last year's performance was a bit off. Also remember reading that the artist who created the tree wasn't too happy and the city had no idea how to repair, etc.

  • I always wondered about this...was it a one-time thing?

  • I think it had a two-year lifespan. The second year that I walked up to get a close up...something was amiss. I think it lost one of its colorways too.

  • how disappointing - it was such a beautiful look to have the modern tree in the historic arch. I hope they bring it back one day.

  • yeah, i loved that tree too. the current one is good, but that one was special.
