Moving into the neighborhood, a few questions
Hey guys, I'm looking to move into Park Slope, or nearby close to park Kensington or Lefferts gardens. I was just wondering how the neighborhoods are near park, Kensington and Lefferts. I've lived in Brooklyn Heights and Prospect Heights a few years ago, lived the past few years in the upper upper east side of Manhattan just south of the spanish harlem line. I decided to move back to Brooklyn for a few reasons. I'm currently deployed in the Army and didn't want the crowds of Manhattan right off the bat, I bought a new Harley Davidson(parking), and Brooklyn has the vibe, the people, and the attitude. I've been oversea's since febuary and should be back stateside in NY around mid-april shopping for a new home. So any advice, comments, etc. Cheers

Any specific questions? Park Slope is the best place to live in the city, all families, brownstones, and good commercial strips with no tourists or crowds. Can't recommend it enough.
And thanks for your service!

I second Park Slope. Although parking is an issue in Park Slope, you would not have a problem with a bike.
Park Slope is much better then the 2 other locations you mentioned.

Despite ease of parking, I would plan on putting the new Harley in a garage or a somewhat secure area (like the front garden area of a brownstone, or a friends driveway).
....too much risk of theft, or of it being knocked over by a parallel parker.

Bring lots of money if you want to buy a home here.

If you need a place to store the bike, my friend just opened a cool place.

If you can afford the slope, go for it. Most convenient for transportation, lots of shopping and dining optiosn, and plenty to do nearby (Prospect Park, summer concerts, Brooklyn Museum, etc). Do ask if you have more specific questions!

Go for it...the neighborhoods around Park Slope are great too. They have the local edginess and yet you are steps away from the good stuff about new york. I love Prospect Heights and have an affinity for the area around Greenwood Cemetery.

I actually used to live at 555 prospect place in the heights back in 2006. It was too close to franklin ave for my ex g/f at night(have no idea what it's like now). What i'm seeing as far apartments go on craigslist, right near the park in lefferts is a bit cheaper for more space, but as far as the neighborhood goes, I'll have to check it out. I'm leaning towards park slope, Good advice as far as looking for motorcycle parking, coming back from a 15 month combat tour and having some idiot hit my new harley trying to fit his 10 foot car into 6 feet of space is going to end badly. I checked out that machina cycles link, 185 a month for motorcycle parking is not what i'm looking for, that defeats the purpose of me owning the motorcycle, but I will also look for an apartment with a garden area etc(good advice). Does anyone know any good gyms in park slope, lefferts gardens? I read about someone getting killed at some dive gym.
