Accidents on 4th Ave and 1st St AND President St. this morning??

This morning, while I was walking to work, I saw a woman laying in the street at 1st and 4th. I'm not sure what happened to her, but there were people with her, and I called 9-11 just to be sure. Then at 4th and President there was ANOTHER woman laying in the street - I heard she had been hit by a car, and her foot and ankle were clearly quite injured. It was very sad -- she was an older woman. She was being treated by EMTs, and the police were taking statements from the guys working on that new apt. building. I'm wondering whether the two incidents were related? Also, does anyone knows what happened to/the condition of the woman on 1st Street -- I hope she's OK.

    i saw the woman in the crosswalk on 1st st by the mcdonalds as i was walking to work. there were EMTs there stabilizing her neck and she was conscious and holding her arm up and moving her fingers around it looked like.

    it seemed like the EMTs had just ran down the street from the other incident? (which looked like carroll st, next to that c650 building?) one of the ambulances had left that scene and come down to 1st st. i didnt see anyone in the street at carroll st, but there was a car service van that was parked in the middle of the street and all the people were out of it standing around.

    i didnt see any car stopped near the 1st st woman - hopefully it wasn't a hit and run.

    The population along 4th Avenue in the Slope has soared in the last decade. When we moved to the neighborhood in 2002, 4th Avenue was pretty desolate, and only a handful of people would come out of the subway when a train arrived. Today, people flood out of the subway every few minutes each evening during rush hour, and hundreds of new families live in the new condos. Yet, trucks and cars rumble down 4th, speeding when they can, and the city has paid little if any attention to the shifting demographics from a traffic standpoint. I always thought that nothing would change unless some tragedy takes place, like a small child being hit by a truck. This will keep taking place until traffic is slowed and other measures are taken to protect pedestrians. I'm not much of an activist but can anyone suggest the best agency to address these issues to?

    perhaps its best to not play leapfrog with a unicorn... cross with the light and at crosswalks , and ride your bicycle lawfully and responsibly... in addition to speed enforcement, that will make the whole avenue alot safer
