Happy New Year Brooklynian!! — Brooklynian

Happy New Year Brooklynian!!

Man, I miss y'all. As you can see, I've begun to adopt local colloquialisms, but I'm still a carpetbagger and will be till I carpetbag my way back up North.

In the meantime, given that it's 70-something degrees down here today, I'm fixin' to go on a bike ride in a couple minutes.

I'll be back up y'all's way sometime this spring.

  • Who let you leave??

Also, happy new year! Do they celebrate it there?

  • Not so much, but the whole city is looking forward to February 19, when Sons of Confederate Veterans (a "historical society"...um, or whatever) plans to hold a fabulous parade down Dexter Avenue to mark the 150th anniversary of Jefferson Davis' inauguration as President of the Confederate States of America.

In accord with what appears to be a policy of saying only incredibly boring shit to the press, Thomas Strain Jr., commander of the Army of Tennessee (one of the three departments of the national Sons of Confederate Veterans) said "The South seceding from the Union and forming the Confederate States of America was one of the things in our nation's history that made our country what it is today."

Well said, Commander Strain, well said. Keepin' it neutral in 2011.
