anyone hear about five shots fired last night?

this would have been somewhere nearby or in the vicinity of the area between franklin and bedford, near streets like park place, sterling, prospect pl.?

we heard at i guess about 9:30 p.m.ish or so, what clearly seemed like five gun shots. then saw an nypd van cruising sort of uncertainly a minute or so later, curving 'round the block with lights on, no siren, as if looking for what just happened. anybody hear this or know of what happened? terrible noise. if these were gun shots, gun crimes in our neighborhood seem way off the charts, and out of control. "wild west" should stay in films. otherwise it's criminal and tragic.

    wow. people like this fella masquerading as a seen-it-all expert commenting like some boorish cipher above are really just so tiresome and sad really. diagnosis is easy here: too much time on one's hands, strong desire to rule more of one's surrounding roost by spewing empty catechisms with no tangible results. most juvenile of you daveb. perhaps your catchphrase should be "gumming it?"

    my advice to you is to quit incorrectly presuming you're steady sage and hilarious, and that everyone but you are in need of your disdainful "teachings." i'd like to end this with two words to you that i can't post without getting banned or something. but whatever. my view is you needed this.

    Yes, I heard them. I was walking the dog on Prospect Place between Nostrand and Rogers. I was very close to Rogers. I had just passed two cops on foot, they were walking toward Nostrand, i was going the opposite way. Then 30 seconds later, 5 or 6 shots. coming from the area of prospect place beyond Bedford it sounded like to me. Either at Bedford or between Bedford and Franklin as you said. The cops on foot did a u turn and started walking back toward Rogers.

    Wish I knew what is was. They were less like a 'crack crack' sound and more like a Pow Pow. Not sure if it was a gun.

    we were unsure as well. it's all guesswork without evidence or confirmation. but suffice it to say, no one's being hysterical or quixotic here; just sensible. whatever those sounds were, the whole community is purposed against gun violence, which is an obvious problem in our neighborhood. anyway, i'm done posting on this. cheers all.

    I didn't hear it and live in the area -- but heard the double shooting in front of the elementary school where I work yesterday. Always a good time with a group of 8 year olds in my care...

    it wasn't here -- it was in East Flatbush. I was lining up my Girl Scouts to leave when it happened.

    I live in the area. And heard the sounds the OP describes. Sounded like it came from Prospect Place between Bedford and Franklin. I looked out the window and saw a police van swerve toward where the noise came from. Some people on the street said something like "Were those shots?" and walked away from the area quickly. Its not clear to me if those were indeed gunshots. If so no one got hurt and the police didnt seem to have found anything.
