Martin Luther King Day - what are you doing? — Brooklynian

Martin Luther King Day - what are you doing?

A day of service?

Or a day of feeling guilty for not doing service?

  • Happy MLK day folks.... Alluta Continua....

  • I thought MLK was a little too passive at times.

I wish Malcolm X had gotten a holiday too.

  • I'm enjoying a 4-day workweek by any means necessary.

  • <<<< raises fist in air.

  • i'll be having sex & taking some photos !

  • Ian's back!! Man, I have no doubt the above will be true. Nice to see you are alive and well in the new year :thumleft:

  • His plans for the day are certainly one way to keep the Dream Alive.

  • Ian and I have identical plans- just with different partners I think. Hooray for MLK day!

  • *pumps fist*

MLK day will be a day of GREAT victory..

    Just as Dr.King would like..

  • Anyone else remembering MLK by watching a group of mostly black men play basketball? Is it just me, or is there something off about the NBA televising a large slate of basketball games under the moniker “Remembering MLK”?

If I didn’t know any better I’d have thought Martin Luther King Jr. was a former power forward for the Knicks. I know it’s not quite exploitation since they’re getting paid exorbitant sums of money to play a game, but is this necessarily how MLK would have wanted to be remembered? With hoops? I’m not crying foul, but there’s something that just doesn’t sit right with me about this.
