Anyone try Soigne Restaurant yet?
Ok,I know that there was a bunch of chatter about the silly name but wondering if anyone has been to Soigne on the corner of 12th and 6th. I know they just opened but I have heard very mixed reviews. Passed by and the decor looks great but my friends ate there Monday and only one person was impressed.

Big article with photos of the menu up on Here's Park Slope. Haven't eaten there, but I spoke to the owner/ chef and can tell you that he's really skilled and just wants to serve good, high-end, seasonal food that's not super-expensive. Something tells me it'll be a hit if they can keep the bottom line.

Really nice article. Will have to try it out after the holiday.

good luck to them

Went there on New Year's Eve with 3 others. We all enjoyed the meal -- pairing combination.

Wow I just checked the menu and they have a lot of vegetarian stuff! I must go try it one day.

We walked by last night and they were closed at 6pn on a Sunday. Grrr.

Went there about a month ago for dinner and had an enjoyable meal and two inexpensive bottles of wine. The service was a bit spotty (extremely nice and helpful but completely ignorant as far as wine recommendations or even certain food items). However, my boyfriend went back for brunch that weekend and had what he deemed "the worst brunch ever!" Pretty much everything was undercooked (chicken!) and covered in a heavy chestnut sauce.
Either way, I'd gladly return at least for dinner. The menu is ambitious, the wine selection is well thought out and moderately priced and they even have comment cards suggesting they're willing to adapt to be successful. Sadly though, I don't have much hope as both times, there were no other patrons and an older man who I assume is the owner seemed very nervous while the bartender tried to tell him business would pick up. Given the slightly off the beaten path location and total lack of buzz, I'm not entirely sure she's correct.

Just a little pet peeve/ rant... I clicked through the Here's Park Slope link and got to their own website and it's ANOTHER restaurant with a flash site. Why do places still do that? It could have been worse- it could have been playing music.

I really enjoyed Magnolia, the former occupant of this space. The incarnation is on my list. It is just so very hard at this point in time to open a place and snag repeat business. A place needs to be totally stellar to do that.
p.s. That was a not review but when I do try it I will be honest.. what ever way it goes.
Refer to previous reviews..LOl!

Took my Other there a couple weeks ago. The decor and vibe was a little weird. I got that same feeling from Magnolia, so that's not necessarily a 'diss'. TVs are always distracting, for what thats worth.
The wine list was surprisingly cheap. I typically spend more than the $36 or so the bottle I went with cost me. It was one of, if not the most expensive bottle on th elist. The waiter came out, presented it, unscrewed the top and laughed when I asked to sniff the cap.
The food was AMAZING. It was a true surprise - which meant I could stop apologizing to my date for taking her somewhere frumpy.
If they had only worked a little harder on the interior, it could be a real winner. I wish them the best.

$36 for a screwcap bottle of wine?

It's pretty common now. I think we're so used to seeing it on cheap wino wine that it's very hard to accept. Next time you're in FNBB or where ever, take note of the ones with screw caps and their prices.
I admit I drink wine, heavily.
