  • I was sad, too. They closed, but as far as I know, only that branch. They have one on Court St if that makes you feel better. Also, recently ate at Ghang Thai, also on Court St (after movie dinner) and the food that all three of us had was really delicious. Not in the slope, but not too far.

I am hopeful about the situation, though. Supposedly Spice, a very popular Thai place in Manhattan is taking over the space to have a Brooklyn location.

  • i think this is technically in the purview of the p. slope board, but maybe it should be universal since it drew people from all over. i have to say it was a favorite of mine for many years, by far the best thai in the area and long before 5th avenue took off one of the better restaurants in the slope. but it really went downhill in the last 5 years or so. not sure why. will be happy to try spice if it comes. in the meantime, born on f-bush has worked out pretty well for us.

  • I'm shocked it took so long. These are the same owners as Rex and Fujisan. My guess is they're going to replace it with something else. Unless they go the franchise route like they did with the burger place on 3rd Street and 7th Ave.

  • I'd suggest checking out Here's Park Slope to stay up on all the latest openings and closings!

Spice is moving into the space: http://heresparkslope.blogspot.com/2011/03/spice-expands-to-brooklyn-moving-into.html

  • I wonder if Spice is owned by the same family.

  • Lemongrass had gone waaaaaaaay downhill and I haven't heard too many lamentations about it's closure. They were one of the early Thai pioneers in the neighborhood and deserve some credit for that, but the food had become uninspired (to be charitable) and we stopped going a few years back. I'm just glad the space is being turned around quickly - that little stretch of 7th has more than enough empty storefronts.

  • It's true, Lemongrass was good and then slid away. It's been years since I gave up on them (flamed water spinach and that mushroom-stuffed tofu thing)

There's (at least) two new Thai places on 5th Ave, one *just* opened in half of the Long Tan space. Haven't been yet...

  • I loved Lemongrass until one day I bit into my curry puff only to discover it was FROZEN SOLID. That was 5 years ago, this day has long been coming for ME.
