Another new kitten in town!
Yes, folks, it's still kitten season.
We found this friendly (and handsome) little bugger on our way home last night. I would guess that he's 3 to 4 months old, and other than being a little skinny, he looks pretty healthy. He's eating well and he knows how to use the litter box. He's doesn't seem particularly troubled by other animals - he didn't show any concern with our dog, and he only hissed at one of our cats when she invaded his new space (the very same bathroom where five kittens were birthed last year.... PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, SOMEONE ADOPT HIM!
)
In all seriousness, he's everything that a kitten should be - curious, playful, affectionate. As a bonus, he's unusually good with the claws - as in, when squirmy or playful, he doesn't extend them and scratch the hell out of you.
He hasn't been to the vet yet, but that'll happen soon - just wanted to plant the seed and give a DHer a chance before he's spoken for.

So... we've had interest, but nothing iron-clad just yet.
I guess that I should take the opportunity to revise some things on Junior, here, now that we've getting to know his personality a little better.
To say that he's not too concerned with dogs was a bit of an understatement... he seems to like them quite a bit, actually! After headbumping and showing a little affection towards Lucy, the two of them spent quite a bit of time playing together. He's quite the personality! I would say that he initiated play about 90% of the time. Lucy, she was just enjoying the attention - our cats aren't nearly as bold with her. Anyway, they played until they tuckered eachother out...
He's really playful with people, too. He likes to come flyin' out of nowhere, and some defensive backs in the NFL could learn a thing or two about hitting and wrapping from this guy - he's shows perfect form while tackling. Still no claws when he grabs you, though, which I'm awed by - our two-year-old (cat) can't get that right.
Also, now that he's has a chance to stretch his legs, he looks like he'll get to be a pretty fair-sized cat - I'm thinking that he'll be in the (not overweight) 12-13 lb range, but I'm not an expert... anyway, action shots for your enjoyment.

oh, i love that kitty. there are so many kitty's out there i see and i want all of them. alas, my sweet harriet-kitty does not like other living creatures, so i won't become the old cat lady.

Thank you! Her new food has given her a little more sheen! She's also put on a little weight - she looks really healthy now. When we got her, she had NO fat on her - she looked like a thoroughbred horse - you could see every little muscle fiber twitch.
Back to Junior - we had an applicant over today. Looks promising, but to anyone interested in him, don't let that keep you from contacting us - Sometimes things just don't work out. -
I finally got to meet Lucy at the store yesterday and she is even cuter in person - if Junior is half as sweet and cute at Lucy he will be taken in no time

Is Junior going to be at the store any time this weekend?
What is his vet status? -

Good news - I walked Junior over to the vet yesterday and had him checked out - we don't have any of the blood work back, but the vet said that he appears to be in great health.

Bad news - As of last night, Junior is (most likely) spoken for. We had a few enthusiastic applicants and we found a good match. There's going to be a brief visit to his new home, and if all checks out, I'll have my bathroom back!
I knew he'd go fast, and that's probably a good thing - everybody in my house is getting attached to him (with the exception of Jack, our adult male cat).
If his new home should fall through, we can certainly find a good time to have you over to meet him. Otherwise... well, it's still kitten season, and I know that there are several kittens in the Slope Street Cats system - it might be good to fill out their adoption app and indicate your preferences as far as type, sex, age, energy level, compatibility with other cats, etc. While SSC does want to find homes for them all, they're not going to push a cat that doesn't match your needs/desires - the last thing that they want is a bad match - that usually means that the cat's going to end up back at a shelter or back out on the street... -
Junior went off to his new home today! It's a little quiet in the house... now I'm wishing that my cats would get off their lazy butts and play...
Mad props to the fine folks at Slope Street Cats - he wouldn't have been snatched up quite as quickly without ya! -
Go Junior! That was so quick

Slope Street Cats has a kitten in foster care who looks identical to Junior. He is 7 weeks old and will be available for adoption within a week or so. He has been named "Squeak" because he is quite a talker. He is nice and healthy and quite a love. If interested, please call 718-783-3428. You won't be disappointed that you did!!
