Found: grey cat
This female cat was outside our apartment building (between Franklin and Classon), mewing at the door and trying to get in. She's very friendly which makes me think she's a pet. We'd love to keep her but it's not possible.
Description: female, grey fur with yellow eyes, still has all her claws. Very affectionate, loves her belly rubbed, and very happy.

If you haven't already post on craigslist under lost pets and make a flier to post at local pet stores/markets/subway stops. Thank you for being kind and taking this cat in, hope she finds her home.

That looks like the kitty that lives in the bodega on the corner of Franklin & St. John's (diagonally across from Nam's).
She lives in the bodega but I've seen her outside on the corner a few times, welcoming people or wandering off chasing a bird. She's super friendly.

I forwarded this to the girl that spayed the bodega cat across from Nams' and she thinks that it may be their cat. Definitely go ask the bodega owners if it's their cat. The cat there is extremely friendly. Hopefully they keep her inside a little better if it is their cat.

@leozoeypiper: thanks for forwarding! We checked with the bodega on Monday, and they said it wasn't their cat.
We waited to put up signs because we wanted to check with all the local bodegas to make sure they weren't missing a cat. Seems like we'll have to expand our search a bit and start putting up signs. Thanks for your help!

That kitty is way too cute and lovey dovey.

Thanks for checking with them! Unfortunately there are a lot of dumped cats in our area this time of year. The cats go into heat and the owners give them the boot instead of getting them spayed. It's extremely sad and very common practice even though there is free spay/neuter all around this city. Thanks for trying to help this cat. The good thing is that she is extremely friendly and adorable. It will be easy to find her a good home. PM me if you need affordable/free vetting solutions.

There is free spay/neuter on Saturday in Bed Stuy through the Toby Project. The van will be parked in front of Petland. The surgery and rabies vaccine is free. If you want to get the FVRCP vaccine it's $3 and a FIV/FVRCP snap test is $17. It's a great deal. The drop off time is 7:30 AM and no food or water after Midnight the night before. You definitely won't find cheaper services than this around.
If the cat is sticking its butt up in the air and super friendly then it's probably in heat.

Thank you for all this info, those are easy steps that would go a long way in finding the cat a good home.
