Couleur Cafe
Walked by the old hookah lounge spot on 7th btw 14th and 15th and saw that a sign is now up: Couleur Cafe. The door was open and the interior looks great... very Umbrellas of Cherbourg with a pop art sensibility.

Found some more info at the link below. Looks like it may be the casual food/coffee spot we've been hoping for!

I'm so excited for this to open - I live a block away and have been watching progress with antici pation!
Parco has great coffee but for some reasons I just can't get into their pastries and they are so small that seating is rarely an option. Sounds like these 2 places will be able to co-exist!

Went there this morning for breakfast with my wife, it was everything we had hoped for. The croissants we're far better than anything I've had in the slope and the coffee was great. The French guy who owns the place is my new best friend.
Welcome to South Slope, so glad to see something worthwhile in that space!

Ohh, that was my 1,000 post. I hope that's good luck for Couleur!

oooh! Cant wait to try it. The people there seem nice and I love the decor (a bit of a step up from the skeevy hookah lounge). I've been shopping around for a new place ever since Grumpy took their pastry making in-house and cut the size of their baked goods by 200% w/o reducing the prices.

I went there for dinner last night and shared a delicious croque monsier and salad with a friend. The owner was so nice. I'm definitely going back for a croissant and coffee this weekend.

Stopped there this morning and I'm very hopeful that this is going to be a regular hang for me. Coffee was okay -- it had that kind of tangy taste (for want of a better description) that I don't much care for, but some people love. It was certainly 1000% better than Starbucks. The croissant I had was amazing, and I'm really picky about croissants. Folks running the place are lovely, the space is pleasant, and the tables are small and plentiful. It really fills a need in the neighborhood. Here's hoping it sticks around for a long, long time.
