Woman Urinating in Broad Daylight on Park Place Near Underhill
I was walking my dogs along Park Place between Vandy and Underhill today around 6pm when, about 40 feet ahead of me, I watched a woman pee while standing on the sidewalk.
She was able to conceal what she was doing because she was in a long red and gold sari. She was also wearing a navy sweatshirt with the word Newport.
Needless to say, I was flabergasted. She didn't even squat. She just stood by a tree and spread her legs. I watched her the entire time. I guess she was going navajo because she stood, peed, and then walked off.
Has anyone seen this crazy woman in the neighborhood? And, what is the world coming to?

This has been happening in NYC, sporadically mind you, since I can remember. And it used to be a lot worse with the dog shit before Koch implemented the Pooper Scooper laws. If you really want to see how bad it can get go down to any third world city. A lot of the residents literally swim in shit and piss. Considering we have at least 8 million residents in the five boroughs, we don't have it so bad. Of course I'm not including the subway stations.

It's possible that street-peeing is customary in the country this woman is from. You are right, now that I think of it I have seen more public urinating in recent years. It was still a shock to watch a woman do it so brazenly while people were walking past her!

This is one of the reasons I am glad whenever it rains in the summer time.
....natures way of washing the sidewalks

This is one reason I do not go barefoot on any sidewalk or street in NYC. Too much DNA floating around out there from all kinds of orifices.
Every once in a while I'll see parents letting their kids run around barefoot, or someone come out of the house to pick up the mail or put out the trash with no shoes. Its disgusting.

Well, I'm not sure I meant that she was doing it out of custom. Or say that it's customary for third worlders to foul their own nests. It's more like she either has a mental problem or her bladder was about to burst and this was her last resort.

I believe I have seen the woman Sammy describes, and suspect mental illness is a contributing factor.
On the more general topic, although Chinatown has gotten much better, I used to find its streets so gross from run off from the fish markets that I would only wear close toed shoes when there.
...chinatown is much better than it used to be. I wonder if DOH is to credit.

Did you place her under citizen's arrest or just send her likeness to the authorities?

There is this one homeless lady in my area that does this all the time, first time i saw it i thought it was raining some where till a friend pointed out lol.

It's getting really bad. About two weeks ago there was a guy on St Marks walking his dog. When the dog started shitting by this tree near the bodega on the corner, the guy pulls down his pants and starts shitting too. One lady called the police but by the time they came, the guy was gone. The guy was a tall hippy looking character with construction boots on. The dog looked like a poodle or something.

About 3 weeks ago, I was walking the dog along the greenbelt on the Parkway. There was a drunk guy walking down the middle of the path. Suddenly- he stopped, whipped out his weenus and took a leak right there. I stopped and stared at him and watched a couple of random girls walking past him, coming thisclose into the splash zone. He was gross, they were gross, it was all too much.
Ya know- if it's your 'culture' to pee on the street (sidewalk, under a tree, whatever) then you need to recognize that your 'culture' needs to be modified 'when in Rome.'

lol I have to admit i have pee in the streets
like alot of guys have thats only because there were no public restrooms and alot of restaurants would have their restrooms for customers only.Once I had to go badly and there is no tree or cover etc.. any where. So i went up to a nice door man building and ask to use it, they were like no. and i was like hmm should i pee around near the front of the building. he change his mind lol.
They should have more public restrooms in nyc. all i'm say or bigger bushes to cover lol.

i agree with armchair, and sympathize with the woman, who may be unstable and/or an immigrant, or possibly just really had to go. it's not pretty, or sanitary, but this is a big city and there can be long distances from point a to b and no bathrooms in the subway or public bathrooms once you're out, and restaurants and bars that either don't allow you to use their bathrooms or pretend they're out of order. in france and italy, part of the deal with being a licensed public bar or restaurant is by law restrooms are required to be open to the public (not that all proprietors happily comply, but at least the law is in your favor). we prefer to be laissez-faire on this issue so this is the result. city council could change that.

I agree with watchuwant. Whatever happened to the cardinal rule of "when in Rome"?
If it's not "cultural", then this sounds like the disorganized behavior often seen in schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.
-
You "watched her" pee? Pervert. I guess we've discovered who the person is who is always watching us while we're street-peeing. That's right...it's @sammysanchez. Take your hipster dogs and the three(?) of you mind your own business!

Also, I'm amused you didn't see that coming...what with her pairing a Sari with a sweatshirt and all. Seriously, who is wearing any sort of a sweatshirt in the middle of the day? I'll tell you who...crazy people who pee on every tree and fire hydrant they pass. It's hot out there, in case you haven't noticed.

@zeferino jackson ROFL! Has anyone else seen this crazy dog walking around just shitting on the street? It apparently looks like a poodle. Also could be suffering from schizophrenia. If you run into it, don't try to catch it. To confirm its mental state, ask it if it has invented anything that will save the world. If it says yes and talks about it's perfectly efficient electric engine (or accuses you of being a spy and runs), you'll know you have the right dog. Also, there might be a guy following it, similarly shitting on the street in an attempt to blend in and not attract attention. This is most likely a spy sent from the future out to get the dog's blueprints for the God-engine.

Wow, DC, that THC must have been strong.

As long as she doesn't wear a skirt while bicycling she's alright with me.
Howdy, Stranger!
