PERV ON F TRAIN THIS MORNING — Brooklynian

PERV ON F TRAIN THIS MORNING

young and modern
edited November -1 in Park Slope

so, im riding the F train to work this morning with my wife. I play in a classic rock/punk band,we have a rehearsal space in carroll gardens. and my wife is an actress, currently playing in an off broadway production of Annie. Anyways, were both minding our own business, and we notice this total pervert eyeballing us up and down, i think he was playing with himself. My wife was so disgusted by this guy, she almost started crying. Be careful out there, this guy looked insane/capable of anything.

  • Just curious, but why the need for the bios?

  • Because they are "Young and Modern"?

Seriously, sorry this happened and thanks for the warning.

Yeah, that was kinda weird. We know more about the two of you now then we do about this "perv." How about you give us a description, so people have a better chance of avoiding him?

    mid 30s, professional type.

  • God people on here are so rude. Get some manners, seriously. What's with all the hate attack? Keep it civilized, will ya?

Ok moving off my soapbox here... I totally know how you feel. I am a single girl myself and that has happened to me several times as well. It is nasty & disgusting.

A year ago there was a guy running around Crown Heights grabbing women's asses. It was on the news too.

Maybe people just lose it after awhile living here.

I came from Los Angeles and never experienced that type of thing, but then again I didn't ride on the subway there for long.

  • Was he a member of Congress?

  • Hope you at least gave him the evil eye or something.

  • and my wife is an actress, currently playing in an off broadway production of Annie.

    It's a hard knock life.

  • Generally speaking guys (have you ever heard of a woman doing this?) get off partly on making you uncomfortable. The best thing to do in this situation is yell at him, and not act uncomfortable. Speaking from personal experience, in the moment, it can be very nerve-wracking to do so, when your first inclination is to get away as fast as you can. But if there is a next time you or your wife would be even better, yell at him something like, "Stop touching yourself Pervert!". Being confronted will most likely embarrass him and he'll run away from You.

Jenee, There are such pervs everywhere, it is not a side effect of living in NYC. As a born and raised NY-er I'm trying to not take offense at your insinuation that living here for a while makes you into such a person.

  • Young and Modern,

    First you describe him as:

Be careful out there, this guy looked insane/capable of anything.

And then you describe him as:

    mid 30s, professional type.

Those two sentences, while not terribly descriptive, don't seem to go together. He was mid thirties, professional (in a suit?) but looked crazy and capable of doing anything?

  • lesson for the ladies is have camera phone and take tons of pictures to expose these idiots to the public some more and hope they'll be caught afterwards.

  • Wow. People on this site used to be much quicker on the uptake than this…

Well...Ted Bundy was capable of doing anything and he did and he looked pretty normal. Matter of fact....maybe the guy on the F train was Weiner. He looks pretty normal too. But they (looks) can be deceiving, can't they?

  • fun with computers!

    step 1. Go here

    http://criminaljustice.state.ny.us/SomsSUBDirectory/search_index.jsp

Step 2. Type in your favorite zip code upstate or downstate.

Step 3. Click on a persons name for a picture.

....one will determine perverts seem to take a variety of appearance, but are (wait for it....) overwhelmingly MALE.

Protip: If you want to see perverts who are white, type in the zip code of predominantly white 'hood. Repeat for every ethnicity if you have the time.

I think there has been some question whether this was written in response to the above link. It seems mighty messed up to try and joke about such a thing, but it seems to be a mighty big coinkydink. Especially once the original poster of the above describes himself as a guy in his thirties etc.

  • Yes, I take all your points that mid 30's professional types can be capable of anything and be insane. The man with the chainsaw doesn't look terribly threatening, he's whistling for goodness' sake. :) And it's not THAT big a chainsaw anyway.

I would also argue that Anyone could be described as being "capable of anything" given the right set of circumstances.

Does no one have any thoughts on the correlation between this posting, however, and the one that goes something like, "Should I have said something?" Am I being overly cynical on this point?

  • While I appreciate your desire to catch a perv, I think you may be trying to connect two dots.

Two dots will always form a straight line, regardless of whether they are correlated.

Geez, this is like pulling teeth. Race, height, build? Hair color, maybe? What he was wearing? Don't know if this was some sort of weird joke, or a really really vague commentary on Weiner, or what, but I don't understand the point of this whole thread. To tell us that there are perverts on the NYC subway system? No kidding.

  • I'm actually not trying to catch a perv, but thanks for the thought that I have such goodwill. No, my cynicism comes that this one was posted a couple hours after the other one and that this one could be mocking that one.... ah screw it.

What the?! That's C. Bale in American Psycho -

And they will always be dots of interest, like GAP and the ESB - just ask richard.

You forgot the, "someone took my bike - let me know if you know anything - thanks," thread.

  • don't give up yet.

You can still kill time on this thread by looking at pervs' pictures.

It's like a modern version of the Scarlett Letter

  • Last time I started idling through pervs I realized one lives two apartments over from mine on my floor. Sometimes it's best not to kill time that way. I put it in the same category as looking through illnesses on WebMd. Either way you come away knowing you're going to die in some godawful way.

LOL but the most important question is - what does your business card look like?

    (One of my favorite movies!!!).

  • whoa, is there a type a business card I should avoid getting?

    ...I don't want people to think I'm a perv.

(well, I don't want them to think I am a perv on that basis)

  • Sorry Whynot I was referring to a scene in the movie WhyFi was referring to

If you have not seen this movie - you must!

  • Ohh my word....this certainly sounds like Mr. Bean was riding your subway! You should of asked for an autograph.
