Time to eat your pets.
I know many of you consider your pets as family members. but to the rest of the world. they are a huge carbon foot print. americans are asking rest of the world to cut down their foot print yet per capita americans and europeans use alot more. many of it comes from the family pet. or reasonablly stop adopting more pets!!

ehhh...what did you smoke today? Your caesar salad's lettuce?

It’s a freakonomics-type, not-what-you’d-expect thing. Apparently, some researchers from New Zealand came out with a study a couple of years ago that claimed that a mid-size dog was responsible for as much of a carbon footprint as an SUV. Google search this set of terms {dog carbon footprint SUV} (no quotes); there are over 200,000 results.
There’s even a book, "Time to Eat the Dog, the Real Guide to Sustainable Living," by Robert and Brenda Vale. NOT sold on Amazon, oddly enough.
Just doing that google search will consume energy, have a carbon footprint, as will clicking this link about the energy cost of doing google searches.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7823387.stmI saw another surprise recently. Most of the “DVRs, cable set-top boxes, and other pay-TV boxes” in the US are very energy-inefficient and use more electricity than an energy-star type refrigerator.
-
don't need to ever smoke high on life and reason.
yeah i heard about the dvr thing recently wasn't surprise its basically a simple computer that is on all the time

To save electricity, many other countries have required that rooms bedrooms and living rooms be designed with a master off/on switch.
Basically, it causes all of the electronic stuff to be shut off when you turn off the lights.
...rooms like kitchens are wired the old way, so things like refrigerators continue to get power.
-
not gonna happen here any time soon people have tons of stuff thats plug in.

I have a lot of pets because I'm not squeezing out a bajillion kids. Plus, if you rescue then you're saving a life that's already here instead of paying some puppy mill to overbreed dogs or cats.
-
problem with shelters that kill unwanted pets is it is wasted, should be turn into puppy chow. might as well use them instead of waste em.
-
Environmental problems are invariably tracked to human activity, whether its driving SUVs, farming techniques or blogging on Brooklynian. Using Armchair Warrior's logic, we should all do the Jim Jones.
-
Production of food, especially meat, creates as much pollution as cars alone.
I guess we should all starve ourselves.
Or eat our cars?
-
Because first world humans create most of the world's pollution, it is only sensible that we eat the first world's young.
(um, not really)
-
damn you american pet owners!!!
Howdy, Stranger!
