Forming a Tenant Patrol Watch Group...Anyone interested?

I am proud to announce that recently there has been great interest in the idea that I have floating about regarding forming some sort of Tenant Patrol for the Park Slope area. While I am thinking of starting it on my block between 6th & 5th aves on 1st street I am hoping to increase the radius of patrol to other blocks depending on the positive feed back. So far 7 of you have sent me messages stating that you are interested in the idea. I am hoping that this thread will encourage others to reach out and volunteer as well. The Vice principal of P.S 321 happens to be a good friend and I will reach out to him tomorrow in regards to perhaps having a small meeting held in the school auditorium for all those interested. Date to be announced.

The purpose of these meetings are to encourage the people of the Park Slope community to band together to form a watch group in order to put a stop to the rash of thefts and vandalism permeating our good neighborhood. Since the police are not interested in protecting us and our property I do not see anything wrong in doing it ourselves.

Thank you once more for the interest and God bless.

Sincerely yours, Vince

  • Having lived in the Slope & Windsor Terrace well before the '90s, I suggest that you also involve your Community Affairs Officer in this Patrol project. It's always a prudent idea to let law enforcement know who you are before undertaking something like this. You don't need to re-invent the wheel; it's been around for decades. :-)
