Subject: Gino's

Ordered some spaghetti from Gino's on Washington. So I decided to give it a shot and order it al dente. The response: whats that? Tried to explain but no go. Oh well.

  • that place is busted. "back in the day" type stories and such. ...but you can buy dough to make your own pizzas with, so that rules.

You do realize that Ginos is a pre gentrified, ghetto spot and trying to order something "al dente" is never going to get through. Who goes to a Pizza joint and order "al dente" anyway?

You are lucky if you get fresh wonderbread with ragu and velveeta.

did you end up getting the spag? how was it? their pizza is pretty fuckin' nasty.
  • I know I've said this before, but I love Gino's pizza. The only other food I've gotten there is their chicken parm hero, which has varied from pretty good to way too dry.
I, too, am curious about their spaghetti... but to specifically order it to be cooked al dente? You're just asking for the cook to spit in your food.
  • The spaghetti is fairly nasty, but you get a lot of it. So it's good.

of course, I have a box of uncooked spag and a jar of batali sauce. despite gino's proximity, I think I'll stay in. :)

Seriously. I can make spaghetti faster than anyplace would be able to deliver it, and it'll taste way better and cost much less!
  • Word, booty. Pasta is always my go to meal when I'm too lazy and/or poor for anything else.
