Missing Cat: Romeo, the Mayor of State Street — Brooklynian

Missing Cat: Romeo, the Mayor of State Street

Romeo, a very, very sweet and friendly tabby cat belonging to Nicholas Grinstead on State Street, between Flatbush and Third Avenue, has been missing since June 18. Since the cat often sits outside, the thought is he may have been taken by someone thinking it was a stray -- but really, he's a cat with a home and has been known on the block for years as its Mayor! Everyone is missing their daily hello from Romeo.

If anyone knows of the whereabouts of Romeo, please contact Nicholas at 917 861 3783. Unfortunately, he wasn't wearing a collar and had not been chipped.

Photo is attached and he has a identifiable scar on his nose.

  • My cat went missing around Easter for two weeks. I couldn't believe he returned home after that period of time. Don't despair. I will say a prayer (in particular to St. Anthony) for his safe return since I know Romeo through a friend of mine who lives on that block!

  • Check at the Brooklyn AC&C - dont call go there to look for yourself and ask to see ALL of the cats including the sick ward. If she was picked up as a stray she is likely there - or was...

  • On Tuesday I saw a cat who looked like this in the empty lot on Bergen St. between Flatbush and 5th Ave. (It was not Lucy, the cat with the white tipped-tail who is missing, as per another thread here.)

The cat looked pretty comfortable, so I suspect it lives in the lot with the other strays, but thought I'd mention it in case. It's worth taking a look in the lot.
