8-sided di, Orcs and Adventure — Brooklynian

8-sided di, Orcs and Adventure

Calling all Children of the Night! Freaks & Geeks! The entire Network and IT Department!

Can you detect traps and snares? Are your mapping skills up to snuff? Do you have enough hit points to sustain a massive attack by dog people and zombie pirates?

Then put on your game face and find your 8-sided di! Freddy's Bar and Backroom is carefully crafting a public D&D adventure (it's pronounced "fight club"). The plan is to play multiple groups using the same module, but guided by Gobarth, Klem Matoh, Ah Ro Ghant, Natzo, Ver Klemp, Mz. Vickers, and me, Karl the Druid. The rest is a secret that you must take to your graves! Get your Hobbit homies togehter and write Ye nigh to Lord Wizard, Donald O'Finn at Freddy's for dates and schedule.

E-mail: [email protected]
Subject: YES, I WANNA SLAY DRAGONS!

We're also looking for a few talented DM's. For those in the know, write to [email protected],
Subject: FIGHT CLUB REF

Bring your own di and bagged snacks. Mapping paper and adventure module furnished. Proper hygiene encouraged. No jocks. No hot chicks. Bring some hot chicks. Ladies with fire ball power and combliness of around 14 encouraged.

See ya slayers!

Sincerely,
Karl the Druid

[major thread derailment]Dude, you have to try the Korean mountain-style pork belly bbq at 194-03 Northern Blvd in Flushing. It cannot be topped![/major thread derailment]

god if i wasnt so lazy, i'll drive out there to try it.

    Mmmmmmm. Korean bacon.

Although I'm partial to Won Jo and their sino Smokey-Joe tables, I think of Flushing as a distant country. One that I don't understand. The Dutch street numbering system, those large traffic circles with trees, all those crazy kids racing their cars down the boulevard and such...

Hey wait a minute! This is a D&D page!

Alright people, I know you're hiding among the common crowd somewhere just wating to roll initiative. Lurking, just dying to slay a dragon. Or maybe you really do have girlfriends. but we need some DM's to step it up and step into Middle Earth.

But we should consider a road trip to Queens, no? Suggestions?

  • Subject: The Latin Treat

I was just thinking of this the other day as I was sharpening my +1 spear. Ver Klemp, his girldfriend C. (who wants to remain anonymous) and I went to 45th Street and 5th Ave for Mexican food. It was gooooood and very cheap: $1 per taco.

You do need to know a little Spanish. I think I asked for "the old man in the bathroom" special by mistake. If we can't car pool it to Queens, we can take the "R" to little Oaxaca. Anyone up for it?

That sounds awesome! When were you planning on going?
  • I'm always available as Spanish assistant for trips to sunset park or the redhook ballfields. it's really fun to have all that power!

"you get chicken if I say you get chicken! now, go cower in your English-only corner!"

    Now here's the rub.

I have a minor coflict, not with spicey food, but with the oath of secrecy I swore with my adventure team. I may not be able to attend but I can send someone else (a foodie by proxie if you will) in my place. Let me consult with the group.

Hmmmm. If I use the cloak of concealment you'll never find me and you'll think I flaked out. That's not good. Maybe I'll send a non-cleric, possible a 5th level illusionist. I can send a graphic designer, lord knows the hood is crawling with 'em.

Gotta run, I have to polish my plate armor. Laterz skaterz.
  • Lemme know if you plan a GURPS night. I'd be all over that. Oh and I like Kum Gang Sang for korean BBQ in Flushing. They also have parking. :)
  • Yavel wrote: Oh and I like Kum Gang Sang for korean BBQ in Flushing. They also have parking. :)
Yes, but they lack a key feature of the Manhattan branch of that restaurant- a piano on a waterfall. It's really hard to top a piano on a waterfall...

Are we back to that Korean food topic? So, Ver Klempt e-mailed me back about the taco place in Sunset Park that we went to over the weekend. It's not called Flaco's Tacos, it is fact Tacos Matamoros (which sounds Japanese). Maybe he spends too much time online, but this is what he wrote:

"That place would be Tacos Matamoros, I actually found it looking for tacos in Brooklyn and came across this woman's blog - sounds like our kind of people: www.eatdrinkonewoman.com"

After consulting DM Guide under Food Adventure, I read that I can not interface with non-Middle Earthers. Instead I can send an Asian as proxie. I just follow the rules, you know, neutral alignment etc.
  • Karl the Druid wrote: I just follow the rules, you know, neutral alignment etc.
Sounds more like lawful neutral to me.
  • Subject: The Results Are In!

    Okey dokes Folks,

Well, Lord Wizard Donald O'Finn has called in for the results of the Public D&D game. It will be postponed until a further date. Can you belive we lost our spot to one of those emo boy bands?

Anyhow, we'd like to thanks all three of you for responding to this post in a timely manner. You can pack your spears and 8 sided dice for another day and assume your place among the common people. We will roll initiative again.

But on another note who's up for a Oaxacan field trip? For under $10 and subway fair you can't go wrong.

    me!
  • Subject: Tripe! Teh Latin Treat!

Yes alafairnadia, Mexican food it wil be.

Ver Klempt and C------- (name withheld upon request) just left for Aruba. I am just a simple Druid with average hit points and am not allowed to mingle with above grounders (you folks). I wil send proxie.

But when Ver Klempt gets back in two weeks I'll post for a Oaxacan field trip. All you need is subway fair and $10. How good is it? Even I said "I can't believe I'm eating tripe!".

And when someone gets hold of a car we can try the Flushing field trip. Do dollar vans go to Queens :?:
