Saw that when I was running the dog the other day. Pretty exciting.

The developer, deodath motilal, was caught several weeks ago digging without any permits. Deodath is known to have dubious construction practices. The city is keeping a close eye on this construction and others by deodath motilal.

I wonder if the DOB has the ability to watch contra tors more closely because there are not as many active construction sites due to the economic slowdown.

Because without the financial backing of greedy developers, few politicians would have any campaign funds in this city.

Are they at least low income housing? I know from my job the city is pushing for a lot of subsidized low income new construction

While the city is encouraging low income housing, it has to make their goals attractive enough (in terms of profit) to have someone build the units.
This development sounds as if fifteen (15) families will occupy 15 floor-thru condos.
....depending on how nice the developer makes these units, he/she will need to sell these units for a good sum of money to make a profit off the deal.
Vacant lots in the area aren't cheap, and I would be surprised if a non-profit, affordable housing developer could outbid a for-profit, market-rate one.
I wish the developer (Deodath Motilal) luck. Despite the presence of a large middle class in the area, the market for market rate housing still seems pretty risky to me.
Mr. Motilal is braver than I.......
