Anyone know how to trap street kittens?

Also - anyone want a kitten?

There are three that hang out in my front yard. They are happy and seemingly healthy but I would like to find homes for them before they become feral.

I think I found a home for one of them, now all I have to do is trap it.

Help!

    You sure they're not too far gone?

    If you want to trap them, try contacting slope street cats to borrow one of their raccoon traps (I've used them for TNR in the past). If someone is feeding them, have them stop a day or so before placing the baited traps. Have a blanket ready to drop over the trap before carrying it off - it'll help keep the kittens calm(er).

    If they don't let you get anywhere near them, it's probably not a good sign. They look what - 2-3 months? I think that it gets considerably tougher (but still doable) after about 2 months, but people at SSC would have more practical experience.

    I think it's generally recommended to trap the mother and kittens when they're little. Then you contain the mother and play with the kittens as much as possible. As soon as they're weaned the mother gets spayed and put back out on the streets and the kittens are adopted out.

    If the kittens are 2 months old my guess is it might still be doable.

    In the above scenario it does mean keeping a feral cat in your home, which is no fun. I once agreed to foster a mother and kittens and was told the mother was friendly. She Wasn't. It was awful.

    tsarina is helping me. we might trap them and try to socialize the kittens.

    Hopefully we can TNR the mother.

    i just started trying to social 5 kittens- they are around 8 weeks old. I was able to TNR the mom with help.

    It has been hard, but I am very hopeful. (And 1 of them is a rock-star social kitten with me, I am working on getting him to trust other people.)
