Footage has emerged of a group of youths helping an injured boy to his feet and then appearing to steal the contents of his bag during disturbances in London on Monday.

The boy, who was bleeding heavily, was left standing on the street, with an empty backpack.

  • The London style riots will one day happen here too, cause the lack of responsibility and entitlements. alot of people feel entitled to things, even if they never work a day in their lives.

    generational welfare etc...

tons of social problems, where kids have more rights than adults etc..

way too many to name them all.

  • While a Negri might extol these events, the proximate context for the riots is not all that complicated: perceived grievances, desire for consumer goods at low prices, and the opportunity to ransack because police forces were overwhelmed. Post hoc justification is also not that complicated: "Cameron made me do it." This justification puts a happy face on what is otherwise simply a violent form of jouissance, the pleasure in destruction. Children smash their toys, rip the heads off their Barbie dolls as a prelude to their afternoon nap.

The Crowd has had its day(s), but in the aftermath little will change. Grievances will stay the same, consumer goods will remain expensive, the police budget will be cut. Cameron will still be on power.

  • perceived grievances

I see what you did there.

  • Wait, you mean everyone should not be able to have everything?

Let's make the Law of Scarcity the first we repeal.

  • This could lead to a race riot over there.

With police nowhere to be seen, the Muslims of a poor neighborhood armed themselves with bricks and stones, clubs and cricket bats to fend off marauding gangs.

Their midnight stand in Birmingham saved a humble row of shops and red-brick mosque from the looters' grasp, but at a terrible cost: three lives lost when a carload of rioters rammed into shop defenders.

Wednesday's deaths have laid bare racial tensions underlying this week's riots in England. Birmingham Muslims pack a community hall to tell the white commanders of the murder investigation that the police don't care about protecting them. In the streets outside, hard-faced young men warn they'll hunt down the black men responsible for the hit-and-run attack.

    You hope.

  • this is disgusting. the interview is just madding!!

'I'll keep looting until I get caught'

  • who needs guns. Hmmm what if those bats and stuff get looted before they reach these people?

Sales of baseball bats and batons have shot up more than 5,000 percent in the last 24 hours on Amazon's British website, as London suffered its worst violent unrest in decades.

  • One question had me thinking for a while is, how come the British have no problems using rubber bullets and water cannon on the Irish, yet won't do it for their own cities and still thinking about using them and the pm gave them permission but still refuses to be used.

  • That concludes today's lesson in Anglo-Irish relations.
