dyeing leather? has anyone done it? where to go?

hi all,

I have a fantastic hot pink leather blazer that, well, has been beaten and grease stained and tortured. now I want to turn it into a black leather blazer.

has anyone ever dyed leather before? how did it go?

is there anyplace in the nabe that does this? outside of the nabe? I'm willing to travel to get this done. I love this blazer (for those who've seen it/felt it - it is the super soft one that none of you can stop touching) and want to continue to wear it.

thanks.

  • I swear by Bridge Cleaners downtown. Im not sure if they do leather but give them a call.
  • i have done shoes numerous times, but not clothing. i think clothing would need to be industrially done so they dye doesn't weep onto your clothes/skin (you know, like those cheepo dye-to-match shoes you have to wear when you're a bridesmaid and at the end of the wedding your feet are green?

i'd look to find someplace in the fur district, but i don't know that you're going to have a lot of luck
