  • I'm curious aboutt his myself. We too have had the non-HD version of DircTV for about 11-12 years now. Seems like a waste of my flatscreen tv. What other options are there out there?

Clearly, I'm as lazy AW here... I'd much rather do an informal Brooklynian poll than (shudder) research it myself.

  • oh ntfool :p haha.

  • i'll get off my lazy ass as soon as by end of the week to do research.

  • The last time I compared prices, similar packages were all priced similarly.

There are no good deals out there.

  • Oh wow. Upgrade. I have DirecTV HD on one TV and standard on the other. Watching the standard is like...last resort. If you're happy with DirecTV programming (I am), then stick with them - Dish might only be a smidge cheaper if any, plus you have to get locked in on a new contract, deal with installation, etc. If you haven't adjusted your package in 11 years (wow) you can probably haggle with DirecTV on price.

  • more like 2 decades :p. but i'm sick of the storm outages.

only problem is its under my moms name, i couldn't get them legally to put it under my name decades ago being a teenager :p.

  • It's all about how well it's installed. I've had it for 8 years, and only had problems at one of my four apartments since then.

That installer did a lazy job. All of the others did a good job and it only goes out during the worst storms, and only for a few minutes.

  • Really??? Ours craps out with every heavy rain storm. In fact, we're still out from the shenanigans this weekend (but that's because I haven't been home enough during daylight hours to get up to the roof and see if the damned thing is still attached).

  • the dish i paid was changed over a year ago to their dish. and they had to come and change it 2 times still works like crap. first one would be out when there is a slight breeze. the dish i paid was dinged when that huge storm a piece of wood ding my dish. second one acts like my first one still doesn't work in any storm. good thing the dish was free. unlike my first one paid for it and installation etc...

  • i went and check out most of the packages available for cable and dish. blah about the same and i hate it how its cheaper first year and second year it will be normal price. no deal at all.

I'm sticking to my current plan and have them throw in hd for 10 bucks more.

  • Yeah, they're all charging the same rates.

The free market is great except when the government gives out monopolies.

  • monopolies suck ass, this reminds me of when dsl first came out, I had bellatlantic dsl and small companies came out as a competition. problem was trying to switch. I switch and some how after 2 or 3 months still no service. they bellatlantic(verizon). Said they switched me off and the other company said bellatlatnic wouldn't turn over my connection to them. I got sick of it. made one call to bellatlantic magically my dsl was switch back on same min.

that small company had better prices and offer faster speeds.

sucks ass for big ass monopolies. I wish they would do the uk system here for cell and internet service.

  • I just deleted tons of channels that i don't have on my new receiver and also discover Adele isn't black :o. Haven't watch music vids in a long time LOL. Also now fuse sucks ass. I used to like that station.
