How can I get my pacakges delivered? — Brooklynian

How can I get my pacakges delivered?

Hi All,

I just moved to a private house in Windsor Terrace (renting top floor). My landlady and I both work during the day and I don't know my neighbors. I have ordered a bunch of items for the house but now I have these "We missed you" door tags from Fed Ex and UPS I can't miss work to await delivery in the middle of the day and they don't deliver after 5 or the weekend. I've always lived in an apt. building before. How the heck do I get my packages now short of having them left on the front stoop for the world to take? Is there some type of Mailboxes etc. store in the neighborhood?

  • you could always rerouted to work, if you're work doesn't mind, they leave you a tracking number call that number and tell them where your job is located.

  • A friend tells me amazon packages are now accepted at 7-11

  • Ah, the frustration of the slip. I know UPS delivers late. We get stuff up until 9pm often (note, I am in Park Slope). You could leave a friendly note for them that you could get packages after X time and hope that works. They are apparently paid on the number of deliveries so they want to get the packages to you. Our main guy even makes multiple attempts in one day sometimes.

Not sure about a mailboxes place around there but I've had plenty of friends that just got a local business that they go to (coffee shop, etc.) to accept packages for them. Maybe just check out a couple of places nearby and ask. The worst they can say is "no".

  • for some reason you folks in park slope are lucky, where i live in get mines super early in the morning. they go from one part of brooklyn to the next if you happen to be near the end of their route, you get the latest which happens when most people are home.

  • It's probably pretty out of the way for you, but there are two places up where I live on Washington Ave. in Prospect Heights called Away we Go Postal and another one which was on Lincoln. Pl. too where they will accept packages for you.

I know what a huge pain it is, believe me cause I only shop online. UPS is usually rude as can be when they deliver packages too, especially considering the cut off time is supposed to be 7pm, not 9 at night.

  • There is a UPS store on 7th Ave right near 9th street. You have to pay an extra fee ($5?) to pick up your packages there but it's worth it to know you'll actually get your stuff!
